Recently our Barco Data 808s has occasionally stopped working. It remains in a power on state and when I look in the tube, I see faint glow. If I open the cover everything looks normal when operating. When the failure occurs, the Red LED on EHT glows. Often we can watch it for an hour before the symptom develops but sometime it occurs almost immediately.
From other posts on this forum, I believe this indicates a possible failure of the EHT board, HV splitter or quadrupler. Does the "Not always failing" status or the delay before failure indicate anything? I may have access to a Barco Graphics 808 for a possible donor. Are these items interchangeable? Are replacements available? Is there a diagnostic procedure?

TV/Projector: All of them!

The only sure way to check is to send in all three pieces to me for testing. There's no way to check for Hv breakdown of components with a normal meter. Almost always it's the Hv quadrupler, but it can also be the splitter or EHT board or both.

Shoot me an email at curtpalme at shaw.ca and I'll tell you how to send them in. I am out of town for another 2 weeks, but can dive into them at the end of the month.
