The if is contingent upon price, not fate ; P
So I finally was able to send comands to the machine via serial port and remote emulator. Got it set up in my cramped room, going to try finishing a manual setup tonight. I started the process but lacked the tools to remove the bolts that secure the lenses.
One odd thing cropped up during the first part of the process: The manual says to look dirently in to the lens and see if the crosshatch is centered on the raster, if not to click the arrows to move to the center. No amount of the clicking the arrows changed anything... I know the arrows in the marquee control software work for other functions, so I'm not entirely sure what would be causing this.

I'm late at the party, but I would suggest to try the 1080i-96Hz resolution with the Marquee, it fits in the n*24Hz pattern, has no flicker, and all this needs the same bandwidth as 1080P-48Hz. Down side is the scanlines may become visible on ocassion, and somewhat difficult to add it as a custom resolution (even with nVidia cards).

Lower the contrast and use the arrow keys(if that is in the software) while looking in the lens(not heard)
Not sure on the software your using though
