Ok, it's time to deal with it. I can't capture it with my mobile as it only shows a big flash. Will try some more times when ever I get the mood. But made a drawing that will have to do for now. Hopefully someone will recognize the problem anyway.

Well, when I think I got brightness and contrast nailed.. bright and punchy and yet goes very dark in scenes where it should. Only when reaching that stage a second grid pattern emerges on top of the raster. A huge square taking up the entire left half off the raster. It's been there all along, but never bothered to fix it.. I only set back brightness a few clicks to make it almost invisible. It looks far worth inside the lenses at that point.. but at the screen (thank you God!) it's only one thick vertical bar on the left side. Headed like in the middle of the left side of the screen. Also very annoying..

That smeared section I'm been dealing with before with my image happens to coincide with that white vertical bar.. maybe it's coincidence I don't know. But can bring up that extra entire grid pattern on the screen if I ram up contrast and brightness really high.

Swapped HDM back and forth.. but the same.

Swapping VIM board wont change anything it was there before.

Optimal brightness (for me point of view) at 63.. but usually set it back to like 60.

Optimal contrast uncertain.. but go with 54 now.

Have you ever initialized the PJ?

Have you ever removed and cleaned the socketed chips on the
CLM and DPB?

Have you ever removed and cleaned the daughter board
on the HDM including the removable chips?

can you take a picture, directly into the green CRT?

It's not going to be easy, so it may take a few tries before you get it right.

bring up the internal test grid first - snap a picture - then hit "exit" raise the "Brightness" just until the blank inage begins to bloom - snap another shop

I'll try it tomorrow. But just to let you know.. and hope I don't embarrass you in any way.. your modded VIM 03 has a very noisy green when looking inside the green lens. Hardly see the horizontal lines when the pj goes into a ldim like mode. When there, it has a very noisy look about it, non at all on the red and blue. Razer-sharp. But when activating the image it goes away.. well almost. Looking at the screen I still see these vibrations on green from like a feet and a half. But from the sofa non at all. That's why I never bothered you about it. Nevertheless, It's got nothing to do with that as it was there before.

That noise can be normal. An modified 03 VIM can be noisy, mainly because of its increased bandwidth. That is also why we had to come up with the convergence board strap and some and the few parts changes on the power supplies. The noise going away when the image is present can also means its the noise coming from the HDM, which is also a problem on most Marquees, because the green neck board is very near to the HDM. Going away is a good thing, if its there with an image, you have a problem on the green channel.

Try swapping the mini RCA's on the VIM - from red to green and see if the noise stays on the green.

Sounds like a good idea. I'll do that for sure.

As for the pictures you want.. I might not get it.. but will try and film it instead and post it on my Youtube channel.

An update on the HDM that I bought from Dragan with the mods done to it. It's an Ultra 08 HDM that arrived almost complete. It arrived damaged due to shipping, but works. Again, my problems was like that before, but back then I was more off newbie than I'm now. Still a newbie.. just not like before. So not entirely sure what could be faulty, if anything.

I wonder If a graphics card could cause this.. If I had a blue-ray player I would try that. Not the case.

Sorry, no CLM to try.

I would like to correct myself.. it's not "many times" it's more like 4 times or so.

I was bored and made a video out of it and now on Youtube. Clearly shows the problems with ghost grid on blue.. green is not lit at all first then all of a sudden there it goes to. Red is by far most difficult to capture, but looks just like the rest.

Wow...that's really bad

I'm thinking CLM, or possibly the LVPS, or even a bad HV lead.

I say CLM issue. Remove and replace the chips that will get any oxidation off if you dont have any contact cleaner.

DeOxit works best. They have a combo pack of DeOxit cleaner and ProGold treatment.

That works great and also get a liter of DeNatured Alcohol and a soft tooth brush and clean all boards with it liberally
