Thanks Case. Really fascinating to hear anyway. Australia. Here in Sweden most people live like gnomes stuffed into small land lots like planted onions, or packed like sardines in appartments that still costs your shirt. Just the thought of having your own piece of land where you can do whatever you want, dig a bunker, build a castle, arrange a landing zone for aliens... whatever, is like a fresh breath of air.
I have an idea for you. Cut down some trees, rough up some of that soil and create a motocross track where you invite people with odd off-road vehicles for a monthly combustion extravaganza.
How much is a litre of petrol where you live?

I have more then one hobby and work on computers in my own shop
I also am roughly a half hours drive from two towns
I wouldn't attemp to move my projectors myself(service yes move no) I get help when I need to move one of them(eg lifting them) I use dollies to move them around by myself
Heck I ain't worried about space I could setup another home theater if I cleared out some others old stuff
I also have a Pool table in my theater room for when I ain't playing video games on my big screen I can play a game of pool
When I feel like having some fun outdoors I also have a go cart I put together myself(212cc engine with tav)
The largest tv or monitor I can handle by myself if a 13 inch
I work on computers as a profession not a hobby(it used to be) but I still find it fun

I can do that easy here in the us and it would be a great idea to make a bit of money

About $1.50 a litre for unleaded, about $1.65c a litre for 98 octane premium. I don't really want the noise of motorbikes here!!

They all have a fuse or some sort of over current protective device. It is mandatory.
That UPS is a kid's toy. Its a SOHO grade device and not worth spending time on, unless you want to use it with your playstation so you don't lose your progress during a brownout cause that's about all its good for.
Anything under 1.2kVA and youre wasting your money. The piss-poor non-sinusoidal AC wave form will ensure inductive loads really chew the sh** out of it fast. I can trip the circuit protection on one of those little ones like youre talking about with just 1x 18w fluro lamp and 1x 36w fluro lamp. That is about 60 watts at the most, counting the fluro lamp ballast in each lamp. Its a far cry from the 500VA youre hoping for.

It's what the unit is rated for not what I am asking from it and it does ok for what I am using it for
I do plan on getting a large unit for my home theater equipment but I don't know if one can handle my projectors load along with everything else
Even if I didn't use one for all of my theater equipment having one for my ps3 would be great(it went nuts last power outage)

But it's never really quiet, is it? I mean, birds, snakes, toads, nature's night-life .. etc. Can you hear other vehicles on the nearest road perhaps?

Most nights here in my area is dead quiet at times but I don't mind nature as I find it relaxing
I rarely hear cars from the highway as I live about 2miles away from it
One thing I like about living in the sticks is I have my audio system going without someone yelling at me to turn it down from the next house(which is a good distance away)

But, is it *really* black? Have you looked at a CRT an its phosphor/screen in daylight? You'd need a Philips Blackline, or something like it to attain that real black.

Mint tubes the phosphor is white when worn they are a gray and when ready to replace they are brown(take a look at curt crt wear chart)
What my sig means is that when a crt shows a black image it is a true black not gray black like most digital projectors(yes it is true digital still can't do a true black like a crt) that is provided its properly setup when not set up properly it will show a gray black(I have seen tvs like that)
I can post a screen shot of my marquee displaying some material(eg Star Wars) if you need proof of the crt being king of black

E, I'm talking about TVs, not projectors. Have a look at any regualar TV set, you will see.

My little 5 inch set is like that yet still shows a true black when in proper light conditions
Most consumer direct view sets went to tubes that had a black face in the 90's here in the states the 5 inch I have is a late 80's model

Well you did get kinda technical on me but some of I got
I know the units I have are junk compared to the ones you mentioned but they are for a single purpose not for a whole house(and that's it equipment use for the type I have)
I don't know if I will be putting a ups unit on my ps3 soon as it acted up last night on the audio (made popping noises plus the audio would drop)still haven't ruled out my av receiver yet as being the possible culprit(get one thing working smoothly and something else goes nuts)

I never mensioned anything for a whole house. I only spoke of cheap nasty computer oriented UPS units. I could get a whole lot more technical on it yet, that was only very basic!

Case I have to admit I was speed reading when I read the post
I have known about how nasty the smaller ups units are for years(I work on computers which can withstand the nasty power from those units)
Now I do plan on getting a large ups unit for my work building for times when the power goes down at night as I am going to see into doing a solar panel setup for daytime use as I like to make my work building as green as possible

Never was told that in my computer repair classes wow
I guess this means it would be a bad idea to use one on my ps3 right?(seriously I can't have something get slowly killed over time)
Also I have a antec computer power supply that has two fans and one has died in it(the supply still works) down side is I don't want to replace it and it still working thermaletake doesn't make a fan that size that I know of
The fan that's in there still works to a point but it doesn't move much air due to it either being bad or damaged(not sure)

Your computer repair classes teacher probably doesn't know what I know about electricity and probably isn't an electrician.
It wont hurt anything to run through the UPS provided its running on mains, its when the UPS is running on batteries that the poor harsh damaging wave form is produced.
Try this as a test, get two UPSs, plug one into a battery backed outlet on the other, then shut of the power to the first one. They will BOTH start beeping to say mains is gone, and the reason for that is the non-sinusoidal wave form and inaccurate AC frequency. The control gear in the second UPS will not accept this as being suitable, and will ignore it, leaving it disconnected.
Why anyone would use a Thermaltake anything over an Antec is beyond me, one is cheap sh*t, the other is quite decent. The fan that is dead has nothing to do with UPS, it will be an electronically commutated fan motor, they take a DC input and convert it to an AC rotating magnetic field.
