A friend of mine recently acquired a minty Marquee 6500 (!!!) projector, and he is interested in converting to a 9500, but his screen has 165cm (65") width, this seems to fall out of every HD10's range, any solution?

Those who are curious about the marquee 6500 I can tell it is basically a 8500 without astig. Built in 1997, has -02p VIM, standard VNBs, DPB U7 has 5.2 ver so probably go up to 130kHz scanrate (but not proven yet).

Hello

HD10L is the best shot, I would have to try one to confirm it would work that small. Zone stig is not that hard to add.

I used the table attached bellow, this shows the HD10L good 120-150cm screen width, others are all 180cm and up.

I have the HD-10L on my 10pg and they could do better but then again I hadn't zeroed out everything in the set at said time(electronics focus is one that I had to zero out)

Now I am also in the process of converting my 8110+ to a 9500Lc and curt didn't suggest the HD-10L it is a the higher rated lens g12 version I think

How is the zone stig easy to add?

You need an add in card for the CLM, and a slide in card that is connecting to the CVA board on the heat sink, but you have to assure you have coils on the tubes that also have astig windings.

Mine doesn't have the astig windings as my marquee is a 8110+

You can't be so sure, I had a Marquee 7500 (european name for the 8110), that had astig windings on the green tube for example, but the astig boards missed of course, I also read someone else had the right yokes on all tubes, so I guess this depends somewhat on luck.

I have pulled the blue tube to check when I had to add glycol in it and the windings only have the plugs for the non astig sets(can check again but I am sure it doesn't have them)

The blue actually doesn't worth the hassle, if you have astig on green and red that is plenty enough.

Guys here is the cost to convert our 8inch sets to 9500s

Tubes- $1500 for a brand new set.
Metal plates- $150 a set.
Lenses- $150 to 1000, depending on the model.
Astig boards to make it a 9500=- $250.
This info is straight from curt himself
Now some of the stuff may be findible in certain sets(eg astig in a 8500)

Tubes, lens and mounting hardware are the main differences

Ps once you get the HD-10 lens I think you can't go no smaller then a 120 diagonal screen

How do I know that my nec 10pg has the HD-10L lens and they don't like going small

But the benefits of a 9 inch lc optics set is great
No halos around small bright objects(I noticed it on mine tonight as I watched my local Labor Day celabration boomsday and the network had a live logo on the screen and the halo like to drove me crazy during the whole program but watching the fireworks on my huge screen made me feel like I was there that and my 600 watts 10inch sub Smile
I love my marquee and can't wait to get my nec going so I can get used to 9 inch lc tubes before I convert my marquee to 9's

I never looked at the specs on those but it would be worth looking if it will work with smaller screens as currently my nec has the HD-10L lens and they won't even focus below a certain screen size and I would like to use a smaller screen then my 10 foot screen with my nec

I wouldn't mind useing the HD-10s on my marquee when I change it over but I am not going to be using a smaller screen with it

Update I looked and the lens you mentions case would be the perfect choice for my plans for my nec
I am going to set it up with a smaller screen and use it with games and maybe a movie ever so often

Now to fix my Ecp(darn neck board socket on the blue tube melted due to overheating before I got my new fans Sad )and I will be ready for the board for my nec then I will have all of my sets fixed

What do you think caused?
I do know it has been squealing and arcing since plus it is emitting a foul oder(my guess is ozone)
Though I have another issue with it right now and am afraid to use it due to risk of nukeing the tubes(the hdm is acting crazy showing a h inhibit)

High resistance joint causing heat or a short.
