A bit of a newbie question here, please bear with me Smile.

I have a Barco 801s with 2000hr tubes, very little wear. It used to have a 4:3 setup at the former owner. I have used it a little bit just as a floor mount and just reduced video height with the remote to achieve 16:9 aspect as I use it for movies (1280x720@70Hz). Is this a bad thing to do? I mean is it better to actually adjust the raster height using trimpots? Would I get more scanline resolution like that? I'm a bit confused with the raster / video size thing.

I guess my question in condensed form is:

What is the best procedure to set up a Barco 801s for 16:9 aspect?

Any help greatly appreciated. Very Happy

Edit: I forgot to mention I have read all setup guides here, but i didn't manage to distill this info.

Your doing it correctly.

For 2.4 aspect movies if you have a PC you can try 800p as that is all of the 1080p a 2.4 aspect movie actually uses
as the horizontal scan resolution.

It is called Active Area Scanning.

Thank you Nashou66

So, follow up-question, the Barco V Size setting (that i have set to 0% to get 16:9) - Does it compress the whole raster area on the tube, or does it only compress the video image inside the raster area? Do you see what I mean? I hope it compresses the whole raster, I want all lines I can get Smile

If I have the input set to 720p, does that mean that the raster is 720lines too, plus front and back porch or whatever it is called?

Again, sorry if this is a duh-question. It's been too long since I was playing with VGA and CRT timings Smile

Compresses whole raster.

The image within the raster will be 720 lines, the rest you dont see.
