The theater can and that's why I saved the TrueHD track. I saved the DD tracks for the living room. It is more important to me that it works perfectly in both rooms then having the absolute best sound in the theater so I dumped the TrueHD.

Well I'm up to number 6 with no additional problems. Got 4 more to go tonight. I'm going to try and do 10 a day for the rest of my vacation. I need to return this WD player and buy a couple of Dunes. I think I'll be going with the YaDis front end with the Dune. Just what I need, another learning curve Laughing

Chip does your Dune see the files properly on your HDD ? Try Slysoft ANYDVD HD for free for 21 days and create ISO files. Do a right click on the fox icon in the system tray (when downloaded} and select rip to image, Also download Slysoft virtual clone drive(free) for viewing the files on your PC. Using the Dune connected to my Samsung plasma via HDMI everything works fine here... Wink

I think handbrake is your problem if your using it ?

Don't have a Dune player yet. Am using a Western Digital media player to test with. Not using Handbrake, just MakeMKV.

I have never used MakeMKV, so maybe it is better than my suggestion. I sometimes use AppGeeker BD ripper for ripping blu-ray/DVD to any common format (mp4, wmv, avi, mkv, etc.)

Never had a problem with it. Great piece of software that keeps me happy ever after.

Try it and let me know how it goes.

Tom, are you using the factory UI or are you using something like Zappiti or YaDis?

You could always try freemake video converter as a last resort, its about as simple as putting square blocks into square holes, and works just as good as a complex converter.

I would assume that your shrek file wasn't properly ripped if you had no audio. I was having that exact issue with ts and m2ts file types.

Perhaps Craig can answer this as he is using YaDis. I have not bought the Dune players yet. I was holding off until I get close to catching up with ripping the whole collection. that will take 2-3 months at the rate I am going. The question, can I install YaDis now and scrape as I go and see the results on the PC monitor?

Damian (dbone) did a very good tutorial as usual : http://www.mediasmartserver.net/2011/02/04/guide-setting-up-yadis-2-0-for-the-dune/

it's for an older version of yadis (current one is 2.2) but basics are there, you will just miss some extra functions added later like saga and doesn't detail other options like "selection", templates set up...

SWEET...
I only have about 10-15 BD's left to back up and then about 350 DVD's. This work station that I have made into a server works really well. I'm also using it as my main PC. It is real quiet and when not in use is set to go into "away mode".
Unlike standby or off, this remains fully booted up but all fans and hard drives are off. It's dead silent in this mode and power consumption in this mode is almost non readable. The only signs of life is a blinking LED on the front. The only down side to this mode is when there is a call for a movie file from a media player. If in "away mode" it has to be hit twice. The first time wakes it up and the second will select the movie. I can do a work around for that in programming.
I can do the first ping when I change inputs so that it's already awake for the movie selection. I have not gotten my Dune players yet. I'm waiting until I get closer to fully backed up. It is tested with a borrowed unit. I do like the Yadis interface. It is really nice looking and will be real easy for my autistic son to navigate.
