I dont know if its normal that 8" projectors with HD8 lenses is bright as the marquee, but they for sure shine bright.

Guess its the missing color corection on the green tube helping on the light output.

I did 18fl with a balanced grayscale on my 8500, and lost a bit when masking the tube for 16:9 and gained a lot of ansi contrast.

It don't have the color correction board in the back I checked but will it be needed when I change it to 9inch tubes?
If yes then I will get it when I get the tubes
The lumens rating is 1200 due to the hvps

I am currently putting the set back together as I had to remove the blue tube and put new glycol in it as it had leaked out when the set was ceiling mounted and none of the boards were damaged

I can't wait to enjoy this machine
Also where the green tube has uneven wear it doesn't look like its going to affect the picture but I will have to get it set up to see

Im sure you can find different opinion about the color corection board, but its out of mine.

Im sure you can make a very nice image as is with 8" tubes, i was surprised with min coming from a 9"

I did 1080P75 Hz on mine, and had to get used to looking the 9" Again.. looked dark when changing back.

I am going to see if curt has the board so I can see if it makes a difference

I have a nec 10pg and there is a difference between ac optics and lc optics in the overall picture

So far my machines are electrohome Ecp 4101(no Acon)(current machine) nec10pg(not sure if I am keeping) and the vidikron vision 3(marquee 8110+)soon to be my main set

The sticker under the lens hood matches up for a 8110

I got this one at a great price
I also have a nec 10pg but I don't have much space for it it has 9 inch tubes and I don't know if I want to keep it

The 8110 is the base model, none shipped with Ultra features

Its curently my main set right now and I love how sharp the picture is
The only way I could possiblely improve it is upgrade it to be a 9500LC(already in the works on getting the parts)

The only add on I am wanting right now is a moome card(waiting for a bit on that)

I really don't mind it not being a ultra

Another plus it works great with my 120inch diagonal screen Very Happy

I am curious what did the contrast modulation card do and should I get one?

For it being a 8inch set it performs pretty darn great almost as great as my nec 10pg(which I haven't got to use due to a problematic gain board)

Would if I could but right now I haven't got the room with 3sets

Don't let Craig hear you say that! Smile They are all about equal. Sony just drives them harder than the others.

I hear ya. I have two and may have none after I get back from Cedia. Shocked

I may have to do something with my nec since I don't have the soldering skills to repair it plus I am going to put 9inch tubes in my vision 3 soon to make it a vision 1

Now I need a moome card as my hdmi box is almost ready to quit on me Sad

You could probably pick up a G90 for cheaper than trying to put together a 9" retrofit.

True but my chances of that and it having good tubes may be slim plus curt has a huge stockpile of 9inch marquee tubes

If he really wants the best then a modded 9500LC is the ticket;-) All depends how much time/money one wants to allocate to "chasing the perfect picture"
