I've seen standard commercial BR909's in both blue and black. I think the silver case was more exclusive, available only on the CineMax. I like both. Black or silver would probably fit into most people's HT's easier than the blue, though.

I think the Cinemax came out officially when the French company (that never returns emails) took over the consumer division of Barco, right?

I think it's like the Runco deal, paint the case, and add $10K to the price tag. Very Happy

3 CRT's? So how many hamster wheels do you have to run for that much power to consume?

I have 5 CRTs, but power consumption is not a concern, they dont use that much power anyway ( im an electrician by trade and have measured it multiple times ), and ive got solar power Wink

I agree they don't use as much as most think I know they are cheaper to run then most digitals

Depends on the digital, and what mode its in. Most of the time, the specs list max consumption, while the machine has a lower-power "eco" mode which is much more comparable to CRT. For comparison, my JVC is rated 360w max, but actual draw is less than half that in low lamp mode. My old G70 was rated 750w max, but actual was well under half most of the time.

Much more heat dissipation, though. The G70 was over 2,000 BTU. So it depends on whether it's heating or cooling season. My G70 would heat up my 13x18 theater until it was 10+ degrees warmer than the rest of the house in the span of one movie, and that was with the hush box fan and HVAC supplying the room. That's fine in the winter, but the heat has to go somewhere in the summer. My JVC puts out way less heat than did my G70.

True it does depend on the digital model my h27(don't use it now) probably doesn't use as much as either of my crt projectors but they do have a better picture quality then the digitals I have owned over the years

But the crts do make a difference in the winter though my viewing room is big enough that the heat output from my Ecp or nec doesn't make much of a difference in temp

Ive never had an issue with a projector causing the room to heat up much. If its hot or too humid i turn on the air con. I make quite alot more power than i can consume, so the cost of electricity here would need to tripple before i will ever have to pay for it, even in poor whether.

It depends on the room size smaller rooms tend to heat up quicker but normal sized home theater viewing rooms it wouldn't matter if a crt is running(I thought it was odd that the elctrohome user manual had a btu rating for the set Very Happy but I know its the heat output of the set)
