You two get too carried away

I was tired when I posted the watts rating for the iron I will try and find the package to see if it ain't listed on the iron somewhere

I do know it has a three position switch and I haven't used since I got it

I seen one and almost got it when I got mine(I agree it was huge)

Still trying to find the package my iron came in(I have to much junk to go through that I rarely use)

It is a small unit though

Never discuss your tip size on an open forum. Mr. Green

I use a Metcal MX-500 system. It's perfect for soldering on stuff like this, but not an iron for the casual tinkerer.
The Metcal regulates heat so well, that even soldering through ground planes is no problem.

For most people I'd suggest a Hakko with variable temp control for $79. Very good irons. Don't use a cheapo to solder NEC boards.

Hq ha I see

The soldering iron I have wasn't a cheapie as it was a bit more then 79 and has two heat settings(I think it showed on the package up to 800btu but I am not sure(if I used it more I would remember)

Ok update I finely got my friend to recap the output board helped some(yaa)

But still no video or grids on the green tube

I can push the button for the green tube on the remote and it shows a raster with a faint negitive of what is feeding the projector

So my hunch about the gain board being the culprit was right(now to see if I can convince him to do the last two boards in the set)

Well I still have to do the gain board and the video/svideo decoder board

Odd thing is when I first powered it up the convergence grids worked on all three tubes then the green tube went black on the grids so its got to be the gain board but till I get it recapped or replaced with a working board I won't know for sure

I do know when I use the video in the image shakes and is steady when using the rgb input

Okay, I now have a PG9plus with presumably broken power supply (Curts remote diagnostics). The plan is to change the easily accesible push/pull boards to my 10PG and see what it does.

Maybe I sould really have a go for the 10 and 47 uF, alt least there are enough left over boars for practicing now.

In what way does the voltage matter? Is it okay to buy all caps with the highes voltage? Probably size matters (spare your dirty mind comments).
Also, why do you list several types of the same spec, e.g. 50V 47 uF. Is there any other spec besides capacity and voltage?

Thanks
hansilili

Yes you can go higher, but don't go crazy, don't stick in a 350v cap to replace a 10v etc...

The difference in the 50v 47uF, 50v 4.7uF and 50v 0.47uF from what I can see, one has 10 times more capacity, the other has 10 times less.

Thanks for clarifing. It's probably too early in the morning here. Didn't even realize that I hijacked Big Es thread instead of posting in my own one.

Shocked

No worries man I don't mind a bit Smile i won't flame you for it

Heck I haven't used my nec "MUCH" since I got it and have put more into my marquee lately then most people would and now the nec is sitting as I haven't heard back from curt about a replacement board since he has went on the trip

I now have no room for the nec to set it up(sucks I know) and since I have my marquee with brand new tubes it may be awhile before I get around to setting it up(provided I keep it that is as its in the way)

I currently have four machines three electrohomes and the nec
Ecp4101
Nec 10PG(needs work and has near mint tubes)
Marquee 8110+(changed to a 9500LC)
Marquee 9500LC(used as a parts set but works)

Case before you say anything about me not getting my nec working I have been busy doing other stuff and haven't had time to mess with the nec(heck I haven't fully setup my marquee since I swapped out the 8inch tubes for 9 inch tubes)

Really I am thinking of selling my nec since I have no place to set it up but I don't think curt allows that on here

Its a great set and I hate to see it not being used (I really do)

I would part it out if other owners needed parts more then a working set

Heck the tubes are the best thing about the set as they are near mint(yes I did remove the lens to see the tubes)

Right now the set is taking up space in my theater room and not getting use(I did have room till I got a pool table)
