I would think you should try to replace that capacitor and resistor that Case pointed out. C27 is a drop tantallum capacitor, sometimes they go short after extended resting, the resistor probably smoked because the short in that power rail, wait till some marquee guys report what are the values of those two parts, you actually can't loose anything if you try to replace them... Once you repalaced them, make sure you pull out the P14 plug before firing up the machine, if it seems to work for 30 minutes at least, then you can go on with the filaments attached.

I cant see any markings on the cap that make sense to me, but the resistor is measuring 10 ohm on the board, and its the same as the one next to C37.

Ok so the resistor is only measuring 6 ohm so that's def fried... That cap does look different to the others identical but bigger... I'll need to do some shopping this week and learn some board soldering Smile

So that's 100µF / 20V.
You can get them from Mouser, Farnell and other suppliers.
Some Part numbers (Mouser):

581-TAP107K020CCS (AVX)
581-TAP107K020CRW (same)

80-T350M107K020AT (Kemet, original manufacturer)

Regards,
barclay66

Edit: Make sure it's the capacitor itself. From the picture it is not clear to me if the capacitor produced the heat or if the adjacent chip was the source. In any case I would swap this part too as it might have been damaged due to intense heat.

107 is 100uF with a 10% tollerance. But id confirm that before you go ahead cause i never learned to read capacitors that way. I dont know the voltage either.

Edit: Barclay beat me. I would also replace the IC he speaks of, however id says the capacitor did that to the IC.

Hi,

That's a LM358N. Op-Amp, very common, nothing special. There are three in a row below the bad cap.
In order to protect the PCB, I would recommend cutting off the legs of the old one and desoldering one by one. Then remove the solder from the holes (solder pump or wick) and mount the new one. Or You coild mount a good quality socket and plug the chip into that...

I would just use the GOOT solder sucker and desolder all 8 legs, then it should come straight out. Wink

Hi,

On the Mouser website You can filter according to the specs You need. Use the following parameters:

Products: Passive Components
Product category: Resistors
Power Rating: 500mW (1/2W)
Resistance: 10 Ohms
Termination style: Axial
Tolerance: 2% (original has 5%)

You should get less than a dozen from which You can use any of them (check pricing and availability)...
