big E: I met mrblonde83 last Frdiay and the blue tube had some sort of window-pattern burn in. At first glance though, the R and G look good...so, sorry no extra blue tube was freed-up for you.
Regarding your pooping noise thread, he might be willing to sell the HVPS/SMPS to you, not sure. I basically left with the tubes, chassis, and keystone board -- he'd stripped the rest of it.

tell him to hold on to the power supply till i hear back from curt(since the set is under his chassis warranty)but i have a feeling my convergence board may take a crap on me one of these days(and my spare convergence boards make the red error light come on in the back even after i clean the contacts and reseat the chips)so i am hoping the set holds up if it don't though i will part it out for others to have spare parts for they're ecp projectors as i hate to let good parts go to waste if any one would be able to use them to keep they're ecp running
sucks about the blue tube as i am going to end up with four sd187 tubes(two each of red and green)and i am also getting a red and green 07ms(i have a blue 07ms tube already)from curt that i will be putting in my eco as soon as i get them
if i can't get any blue tubes let me know if you or anybody wants or needs any red or green sd187 tubes(i will have four soon with no use for them)
i love the picture from my little ecp but i would hate for it to fail on me so early in the ownership(considering i waited patently for it to come from canada from curt for a week at the cost of 300 dollars for shipping) but if it does i have a nec 10pg almost ready to go(need to replace a few boards in the set due to leaking caps)

Matt if your ever need anything from the service manual I got a hardcopy from curt when I bought my set(wasn't expecting him to give it to me which was nice)I also got the service seminar book along with the user manual
I got a email back from curt that he found a new old stock high voltage power supply for my Ecp so if you want to get that one to ahead as I doubt I will need it
Now to decide if I am going to keep the sd187 tubes or not(if I can find a close to minty blue it would be great as I have a minty red and green)
Most likely I will use the 07ms tubes in the set till they are toasty(umm toasty ) then use the sd187 tubes for a retro box setup(provided I can get some blue tubes to go with the two sets of sd187 tubes)
So far my Ecp hasn't popped again but I have noticed the tubes dim when displaying a bright image so I know the high voltage power supply is failing

Big E -
EDIT: I just saw another post that your ECP is a 4100 and not 4500. Oh well. That said, if you want one of these blue tubes, you can have it for shipping (and I won't do the de-fungusification)!
For real?! What chapters of the 4500 service manual do you have?! Do you have Chapters 7-9???
7. Schematics
8. Layout and Wiring
9.. Function Block diagrams.
The electronic copies that I've seen do not have chapters 7-9 AND I've never found a 4500 service manual hard copy. Curt couldn't even find one a year ago, so great! I have the extender board and really want those chapters for when I go over the machine using a 'scope.
Can I pay you to send them to me so I can scan them and then send back to you? OR how about I trade you either one of my extra two 07MS blue tubes (see the pics) for the service books? I'd even pay your shipping and email you (and Curt) the scanned PDF over everything, too.
The P14 07MTS tube has a condition rating of maybe 6 or 7 and the phosphor area was taken to ~1cm from the edges...not minty by a long shot, but it is blue after all. If I look really carefully I can see someone moved the PJ closer to stay within the wear pattern once already and a bit of text in a corner - "CH3" perhaps?.
The 07MS "Engineering Sample" tube has less severe burn-in overall, but a darker pattern burn-in AND has fungus. I would pull the glass, de-fungus, re-seal, and refill that tube as a part of the trade, tho'.
For a retro gaming box setup like you are thinking of, I think either tube would work OK...especially as they are 07MS tubes and are brighter than the SD187s you'd be using it with. That is, you won't have to crank the 07MS blue up as much AND sharpness is much less critical on blue, so the blue tube being a bit softer after ~1000 hours shouldn't matter, either.
BTW, thanks for the heads-up on Curt's HVPS. I actually am awaiting a reply regarding getting him to bring a crap-ton of ECP stuff to me at Cliff's potential August meetup.
Interested?
Matt

I have the complete service manual and can make copies of it and the service semaniar book if you want
I can do the defungus of them myself before I use them(I will have to do it on the tubes I am getting from curt anyway before I use them)
If you want pm me on how you want to do this and we can work something out
Ps when you get the crap load of Ecp stuff send me some extra boards(both my convergence boards make the red error light on the back come on so they are bad(which sucks as they were spare curt had included with the set along with the service books)
Could always use spare parts
Given the set has a 07ms blue tube in it I will be using the 07ms red and green as soon as I get them and save the sd187 tubes for when the 07ms tubes in the set gets toasty(considering the sd187 tubes are near mint)

I'll PM you later tonight or tomorrow about this manual/tube stuff.
That said, if your convergence boards are being funny, you might double check the dip switch settings are correct. This was called out in TBC92-20, which I've attached. Perhaps these extra boards you have came from a 3100/3500 and not another 4100?

One looks completely different from the other
The one that's in the set the pcb is a different shade then the spare that is like it
The numbers on the boards are
50-1918-02p(this is the one that is the same as the one in the set just the pcb is a different shade of green)odd how this spare doesn't work wine it has the same numbers as the one in the set(yet acts funny on the grids despite removing and reseating the chips)
The one that is completely different from the others has 50-1876-04p this one will also flag the red error light yet shows the grids
Lately since I have had the hv leak in the set its made the top left corner of the blue grid not align(give me your email in the pm and I will send a pic of the grid)odd thing is I never had this issue with the set before it did the arcing from the hv leak
I have some other spare boards if you mind I can send the numbers on them and we can see if they are right for my set(if you don't mind)as I want to make sure they will work with my set before I ever put them in the set should I ever need them
Still on the fence on if I want to take the time to do the retro box or just use the set in a different setup in a different room(eg my bedroom)with a smaller screen(currently using a 10 foot diagonal 4:3 screen so I can do either format without a smaller image)
Ps I didn't think about the little dip switches on the board as curt had them all off and the set has never gave me convergence issues till now(which I find a bit odd)
But I will be glad when I get the high voltage power supply replaced as now the set is acting like a plasma tv(picture dims with a bright overall image which it didn't before)so it makes me feel like I am watching a 10 foot diagonal plasma tv(blaa plasma it sucks)
