Here is the back, with annotation and a side sketch of the circuit. I didn't look up the resistor value, but think the colors are clear in the pic.

matt I think the service manual I have has the value of that resistor listed but I will have to look to be sure

Ok, so I searched my posts and thought I'd posted the pictures below last year, but I guess I never did. Anyway, I'll describe what you are seeing in each picture in its description box. This was about a year ago and my picture annotations are hard to read, so my comments might be a bit off.
My main point would be that a few smaller fans in better locations might be more effective and quieter, if more awkward from a clean-box-design prospective. Their engineers clearly made some design trade-offs. I would put two or three little fans on the back of the unit blowing from back-to-front over the neckboards/tube sockets AND the three HDMs. The rear, side fans I don't know if I'd bother to keep. The two front side fans are fine, but maybe could flow some more air OR could be supplemented with an additional front-mounted fan. I should have taken-off the front cover to get a pic of the power supplies. Next time I bring the thermographic camera home from work I'll do that.
I imagine the resistor and cap size needed are specific to the fan load, so we'd need someone who can do very basic circuit analysis to study the original circuit and then reverse engineer a new one capable of filtering the same noise.

I wonder if making slightly larger vents in the top would lower the tube temps?
Also have you removed the grilles before you took those thermal pics?
I can feel air coming from the front of the set around the tubes now since I removed the grilles on the fans(its a low amount as the vent in the top of the set)
I have been watching a movie and the set feels cool to the touch on the top(been watching for close to a hour) the exhaust fan air feels cool(will feel of the inside metal after the movie)
Still can't wait to upgrade the fans as they still make a bit of a drone

the capacitor rating is 470uf,16v(electrohome part number 44-447103-06P)
the resistor rating is 15R, 1/2W, 5% metal film(electrohome part number 80-115095-11P)
i have noticed it also shows a fifth fan in the set(inside the power supply somewhere) not sure if it is the same size as the side four or not
in total the service manual shows the ecp 4100 series has five fans in it(will find out more soon)
i am thinking of removing the top(i know risk of someone getting shocked) and see if i can feel any air moving from the bottom of the set while its running(i noticed some heat moving while i was setting it up but that was before i removed the grilles i haven't had the top open since i removed the fan grilles

matt i don't know if i would want to remove the right rear fan from the set as there is a big heatsink just above it and its just below the blue tube(not something you want to have implode close to you will using the set)
i just watched twister and the set has been cooler since i removed the grilles and i can feel air moving beside the blue and red tubes from the front of the set and the top is barely warm(along with the metal frame in the set(i opened the top right after the movie to feel how warm it was inside barely lukewarm(the air from the exhaust fan feels warm but it is moved at a good rate)
the service manual shows a fifth fan in the power supply somewhere(not sure as i don't feel like pulling the power supply just to look)the service manual covers the 3100 and 4100 series sets
still going to upgrade the fans to try and lower the noise level(its close to the noise level of my dip unit which is rated at 28db)

Looking to lower the noise level no raise it(I have had expernce with sunon fans some are quiet some are not

I don't recall the fan inside the PS area, but I'll trust you on that. The HVPS doesn't, I don't think and can't recall one around the LVPS. I'm at my parents' for the Memorial Day weekend, but after the observance, I'll open it up and find that fifth fan.
The images were without removing the fan covers. The Ehome box is different than the Vidikron-branded, so the fan guards are different. Instead of slots in the sheetmetal sides, they are metal mesh screens. About 1x month I need to manually wipe off a little lint-ball.

I am thinking of putting mesh screens in place of the old grilles once I get around to it(maybe paint them to match the Ecp)

I know I digging up my old thread but I finely got around to trying some different fans in my Ecp and I think I may get some of these fans and see how the airflow changes

Now I did try some computer fans I have lying around(way too noisy) but they improved the airflow a lot more then I thought so I will be ordering the fan in the link and see how it performs as now it is almost as quiet as my marquee I put spacers between the metal and barely put the nuts on to hold the fans in place and it helps a lot also
As soon as I get the fans ordered and tested in the set(I have a 12 volt power supply to run them without risking the set)I will post back as I know I am not the only Ecp owner who wants a near slient beast  )
