Yep - correct. I think there's a picture of the colour filtered HD8's in Andy's monster lens thread around here somewhere...

(All CRT PJ lenses are colour corrected).

Thanks guys, never a lack of help and great info here from you all.
As it turns out my other PJ that I have had for 2 years is a Runco 930 (PG6 XTRA) which I love. I wanted to get a higher BW chassis with a better contrast ratio, thus I got the Barco 1208. So I figured I would be joining the ranks of the lens converters. I won't use the lenses off my Runco though, love that machine too much. Of course here is where I will figure my strategy to do this project. Thanks..... Very Happy

Is there any advantage between HD-144 and HD-145 lenses?

"Not all of them Wink"

So I discovered looking on eBay for them. There is a set for sale that is all clear. In fact this is the only set on eBay right now.

Ok, I am lazy, the prospect of pulling three perfectly good CRTs from my newly acquired Barco 1208s to change out the glycol is not that appealing. I plan to replace the lenses and if I color the glycol I can get the untinted versions.
Is it not possible to extract the glycol by using a turkey baster+ and coloring it then replacing it (or using new glycol to do the same thing), while either in place in the PJ or by only extracting the guns with all the electronics on the neck?
This would seem to be easier that the very lengthly process taken by others.

Barry, is there anything else noteworthy about the Runco 930 vs the standard NEC PG6 Xtra?

I've got a Runco 930 (PG6 XTRA) in my equipment closet with HD-144's. Pretty bad 16:9 wear.
The label on the bottom says "DTV-930" and the label on the inside says "DTV-933".

Are the HD-144 lenses the only thing of value? They are color corrected.

Yep what you want are the 144's

regardless of the type of HD8's we're talking about, the 144/145's are considerably sharper.

Throw in the fact that the 144/145's are also colour filtered (the main reason people want them) and it's a no brainer as to which is better.

There's a reason why many HD8 Barco/Marquee owners are replacing their lenses with HD144/145's!

Kal

Aside from Don Wallace, I don't know of anybody that owns a PG Xtra or needs spares. I don't recall too many PG failure threads... I guess that's a good thing.

Wallace, do you already have a spare everything for your PG Xtra?
If not, walk down and grab this one.

Otherwise I'll just list the lenses F/S.

Clarence the 933 designation meant it included a line doulbler installed.

OK thanks. I found this "The Runco 933 is the same as the 930, but with an outboard line tripler/video processor." So it seems like it's not an internal card.

Mr Runco charged a $4K premium for the 933 over the 930, so I figured there had to be something...
http://www.curtpalme.com/PJSpecs_Runco.shtm

There's not much use for a tripler these days anyways... hopefully/thankfully not too many people using 480i sources anymore. I don't know if it has the optional point convergence board. Maybe wallace will know what to look for.

Sorry for the OT... we now return to the Barco/HD144 thread.

Clarence, I pissed Don off last fall by picking up a Runco 933 for less than 150$. Only had 1500 hours on it. Don bugged me for weeks to give it to him, but I wasn't close to having the Barco up and running. Now the 933 is hanging from the living room ceiling and thats what we watch NCIS on all the time now. (must start whoring myself out to afford satellite)

No it was not, I also received the Vp with the projector.

OK, then maybe he'll be glad to see this one and I might even be able to get a few cases of beer and some BBQ in trade for it. Thumbs Up

Adam, you already collected all of the LC parts that you needed for your Barco conversion, right? I've still got a G70 that I'm ripping apart, so before I put the c-elements and lenses on F/S, I figured I'd double check to see if you needed them.

Yes I would still like them that's the last part I need to finish this project off. I was going to ask you if you were still going to send those with Don.

Oh, glad I asked. I thought I saw somewhere that you'd finished your Barco mods, so I didn't think you needed them.

I might just send the entire G70 tubes and lenses with Don instead of trying to figure out how to remove the c-elements. Although I haven't looked at it yet... maybe it's easier than I think. It's been several years, but my G90 c-element just lifted straight off.

Maybe I'm confusing the PITA of removing a Marquee's LC bellows.

You just need lenses and c-elements? No G70 mounting plates or anything? I'll get them to Don before he drives to Cliff's. Unfortunately I'll be in San Jose for the next 3 weeks, so I can't attend the meet.

It doesn't matter if you send the whole assembly,it might give me a chance to see if I could modify the other 808 chassis to hold them.(like I need another project)

That sux I was hoping you'd be there also.

Alright I just spent an hour trying to find a pic on the net. The model # is a VHD 3xf. I will try to take a picture of it tomorrow. I would like to find out more about it but there is not much to find. Seems Runco doesn't keep records on the net of their legacy products. The menu on it is just as veg. I was able to get into the install menu but that was as far as I could get.
