i'd like to seriously develop an adapter for mounting the HD144 on a barco.
I do not have a Barco so I'd need help. anybody willing?
i'd need at least one HD8 mounting plate and mounting bits and lots of chassis pictures.
I know I can come up with something

I have hd-8's, but live nowhere near Canada. I'm sure that shipping lenses from Nevada isn't the best option.
However, i would love to have that mount. I assume that would mount 145's also.

its not the hd8 lenses that i need. I have those on my marquee. I just need the Barco mounting solution.
i have seen some pictures of it and I cannot quite get it. may need a tube as well but i hope not.

One thing to remember there are two style of Barco CRT blocks. The continuous Scheimpflug found generally in the Graphics models and the non-continuous Scheimpflug generally found in the Data models. They are interchangeable within the chassis. I can donate a Data CRT block to cause if you want it.
There are a couple of photos showing the "Graphics" blocks that I installed in my Data 808s in this thread (https://www.curtpalme.com/forum_archived/viewtopic.php@t=3240.html

i think it best that if we do this we do it for the Scheimpflung support as well. the data block will be usefull if i can know the difference and be assured that the mod will not interfer with the Scheimpflung.

ok, I saw your pictures.
can you explain the thing that is between the mounting plate and the tube face? Is it simply a light sheild? or does it serve another purpose?

Don't know what you mean, but there's nothing in between the Scheimpflug plate (the plate that the lenses mound on) and the CRT mounting plate. Are you referring to the lead tape that's around the CRT front part? That's just to shield off unwanted X-rays coming from the tubes.
I'm eagerly awaiting your results in this. If this involves removing the Scheimpflug, then go ahead. I thought that the Scheimpflug isn't necessary at all for wat we use it for, projecting on flat screens. Isn't the Scheimpflug intended for non-standard projecting angles?

I think this is what he means. Note "that thing" also protrudes into the mount itself, which I previously, inexperiencedly called a "sleeve". I still don't know what its called.
Be great if you can solve this riddle Barry. I want to get my unit up and running first (Curt fixed my SMPS), but might be able to send stuff when the PJ is put away to allow construction.

I don't think so, because the CRT's are attached to that plate...

is "that thing" a plate? it doesn't appear so to me. but i'm just going from the given pictures. The plate is the front most part that the lens is attached to. same as on the Marquee. but the marquee does not have "that mystery thing" between the plate and the tube.
Is it needed?
what does it do besides block light and xrays.

Well, it's more or less a frame to which the CRT is bolted. This frame is mounted to the lens plate with springs on the top (allowing the CRT to move for the Scheimpflug adjustment). It does not block light, nor does it block X-rays. I should take a good photograph of it tonight, as I have removed the blue tube from my Barco 1208s/2.

yeah, i saw that. it is misleading. It completely neglects this other "mystery thing" doesn't show it. it implies that the mounting is done on those rods but i think there is more to it.
My Goal is to NOT machien new plates like these other guys did. That is what makes it expensive.

OK, I think i get it. but Isn't the front plate Fixed and the tube allowed to move with the adjustments? to which is the "mysterything" attached? the tube or the plate?

The two rods you are referring to are the scheimpflug adjusters which are spring loaded to the rear CRT assembly . You lose the ability to use scheimpflug with Bjorn's design . The CRT's then mount to the rear of the adapters .
