Hi,
From which Sony device is this? Maybe I'll have its service manual and we'll find out more...

OK, so basically it is an input selector (4 inputs) and sync processng circuit, controlled via I2C bus...

Thanks!! Ill check those out better when i get on my computer next. Its in an LG LCD television, at a glance it looks to be connected to the component video inputs, so i was thinking if it puts out RGB i might be able to use it to make a component and RGB switch box.
Im using a phone at the moment, so its hard to look. Do you think it will be possible to do this?

In short: No.
You would need to know its I2C command set but this doesn't seem to be available on the web. And You would need some kind of controller issuing those commands to it. If the LCD TV is still functional You could monitor the I2C communication in order to find out what's being sent to it when it should switch to another onput (just an example). Quite a lot of research, but if You want it to do then I would recommend using the "Bus Pirate" (serial communication sniffer) for it. It's a nice and inexpensive tool...

Thanks mate
I dont have the time for that sort of task really.
Do you know of any chips i can use to go from RGB to component video? I usually use a CXA1645 for RGB to s-video, but not sure what chip to use for component.

Sorry Gabor i missed your reply til now.
Very interesting!! I will have to read up more and see about putting one together.
Basically what i want to do with this is make a circuit that will take the 15.75kHz RGB-S signal from both game consoles and arcade boards, then output that signal in component video. 24kHz ability would also be very good, as it would allow later game boards to functionvia component.
Im not making this for my own benefit cause i can use RGB directly, but for many others that dont have the space for a CRT and still want top quality images from genuine retro gaming consoles and arcade machines.
You can buy one online that does this, but depending on where you live, it can be very expensive, and im aiming to help those that can do it themselves.

Now, I see. The LMH1251 what I suggested does the other way, the input is component (Y/Pb/Pr) the output is RGB, so it is not for your purpose.
