This is a test pattern that I've been playing with. It has different grey boxes with a black and white checkerboard inside. The area of white and black in the checkerboard are the same so you can say the average is 50%.

If your gamma is 1.0 then the inside and outside of the 1.0 square are the same with the outside part 127 out of 255.

The 2.2 gamma square is 0.5^(1/2.2)=0.7297

0.7297 * 255 = 186

So the gray outside part is 186

This will show your display gamma at the 50% level.

It was designed with video level from 0 (black) and 255 (white) of PC type video not the 16 (black) and 239 (white) of video type video so there will be a little error at the extremes.

It will work best with 1920 x 1080 displays but might work when scaled to something else.

Enjoy!

Scott

Cool Patterns Scott.

This might help with a blend. What I might do is take the Gamma pattern to match what I want my Gamma to be.
then cut , for example, the 2.3 Pattern and copy and paste them vertically right in the middle
of the scree so it falls right where the blend zone is. I can then adjust two things here.
The Blend zone gamma adjustment in the TV-Ones and also the Contrast modulation
in the Marquee. This should make gamma blend zone adjustment a bit easier than guessing.
