It's a pic from my iPhone, hand-held, in a dark room with a projection screen the only light. The iPhone has a relatively great camera (for phones), but one thing it doesn't do so well is white balance in certain situations, often putting a pink or green cast on something in the image. I have an app now that let's my lock the white balance and it works much better in situations like this.
Long story, short: It didn't look like that in person.

I had a customer in Holland who had a tired worn out 808s who purchased some of my New P16LXV tubes 8 inch tubes with the high rez P19lug gun we had made up special.
I gave him some new hardware to strip out the old Sony Tubes.
A new product for this year.
He completed the new mods, upgraded the required the neck cards to accept the extra grid, purchase the internal HDMI card.
Side by Side with SONY 4k projector ( $26,000 projector)
Result Barco won !

Sorry but i think a comparison BG808 vs. actual digital does not make sense.
It should be a 9 inch machine.

I see huge improvements in sharpness on it. So the moods work.
But also the tubes does a lot. But comparable to a Sony HW50 NO NO NO. far from.
Looking forward to watch a movie on it soon. So I can see if I react to something or not.

Its only an 8" machine. Its not in the league of a Cine 9 or 9500LC.
What lenses were on that 808?

The best lenses for a 8" Colored HD lenses. The lenses on a 9" is better I know.
But still because of new simulator tubes 9" tubes rebuilt built for 8", , and mods. ( The 808 is not a 808 no more )
I know that a 9" is better, but because of all this mods and new tubes it eats a original 9"
But again I have not seen them side by side.
Just memory form a 9" Last time I was there a 9" was sharper as I remembered but still close. And the pic is taken by a phone camera so its better I hope. We see soon.

Before I had the 919's I used to have a BG808s and a retro 808s. I converted it into a front projector with liquid coupling, the sharper P16 tubes, colored C-elements from a sony G70 and also the lenses from G70 HD18's
Now that's not a 808 anymore. Also I had graphics S model so with 120mhz amps.
After that I got for some months a 1208s Also liquid coupled with 8' P16 tubes but with 9" LC housings colored c elements and HD10 GT17 lenses, but still the sharpness that I have now you can't get with a 8" I think. Also the bandwidth is much better, less banding or ringing on left side.
