For me anyway...

Looks like I FINALLY got set up to take Visa, M/C, Discover and debit cards! (I think Amex as well, but can't remember) Canada was wayyyy behind the times on internet transactions, last time I checked with one of the big banks, they wanted a $75K cash deposit in order to take credit cards. Paranoia about internet scams, is what they told me.

I had a sale lined up IF I could take Visa, and yes, indeedy, now I can!

So forget Paypal, if anyone wants to use Visa as of next week, call or email me.

But anyone could have used VISA all along and probably has when they send you money using PayPal. If you want someone to send you money you can either:

(1) Go into your own PayPal account and send them an email invoice. They can then click and pay using any major credit card (no PayPal account needed), or if the buyer has a PayPal account they can pay with PayPal balance even bank transfer.

(2) Or the customer can go to PayPal.com and use the "send money" feature. No PayPal account needed if you want pay by credit card.

All of the "BUY NOW" buttons on this site accept credit cards. PayPal is only used as the payment processor. Many people using credit cards here probably don't even know that PayPal is involved...

The only difference I see here is that you can take credit card orders over the phone which can indeed make things easier sometimes.

Yeah, but Paypal takes a bigger commission, and there are still some customers that refuse to either deal with Paypal, or don't want to enter their credit card online. SO it's a 1% gain for me, and I'll bet I'll sell a bit more becuse of it. I've also got gov't agencies that want to buy parts that can't/won't deal through Paypal. Ditto for school boards, people that are expensing things on their Visa. So I should have done this years ago.

What spurred it is one client that bought the DTV 1200, and had a weekly limit on his Paypal transactions. Visa allowed him to pay all at once.

Having different options is definitely good!

I'm surprised that the CC's have lower fees than PayPal. I've always found the opposite to be true.

But again they don't need a PayPal account. They *CAN* pay with their VISA. Send them an email invoice. They click and pay with Visa.

Our business uses PayPal as the payment processor - just like this site. I actually had a customer a few months ago tell me that he simply wouldn't work with us because PayPal was the only payment option. I explained that it was simply the "shopping cart" and they were just processing the payment, but he didn't care. He just wouldn't have anything whatsoever to do with PayPal. I guess he got burned or something.
