What would be needed to do 3D video using two projectors, specifically 2 NEC XG 1351LC's? Is 3D worth it/does it really look considering it's not designed to play 3D video?

I do it perfectly fine with a RUNCO DTV991 ( which in my case is an XG852 ).

Using PowerDVD on a computer and using nVIDIA shutter glasses. There is almost no flicker that i can see at 72Hz, and the nVIDIA glasses dont seem to make much difference to the brightness. ( its plenty bright enough )

I use the RGB-HV input for it, and run the res at 1280x720p 72Hz. I get slight ghosting at the bottom edge in 16:9 movies, 2.35:1 movies there is none. Wont matter what refresh i run cause the green decay rate is a touch slow, and 65Hz is the lowest itll kick in the shutter glasses.

If youre blending 2 XGs id expect youll get abit of a ghosting issue doing it the way i do, but if youre stacked you might be fine, although stacked you may as well go polarised.

What type of 3D is it?

with 2 projectors, you can do passive 3d, no problem with ghosting if you have proper maintainance of polarization (circular polarization preferred)
you nee filters in front of the projectors, according 3d glasses and a non-depolarizing screen !

Yeah I would like to do polarized 3D. What type of hardware do I need to send the video to both projectors? And for 3D blurays or PS3 games, how do I make sure that the proper polarization is going to each projector? And where can I get the items you mentioned, motobias?

Thanks gentleman.

you can use a computer to separate the streams, nvidia supports 3d playback with separate streams to 2 different projectors.
there are other switchboxes around, which will do the same job but i have no experience with these.
then you'll need polarizing filters and glasses Wink
i tried with 2 dlp projectors and it worked out well, but i am still hunting for a proper screen !

Awesome! I presume two VGA outputs would be best for this? As far as glasses go, are they the same as the RealdD 3D glasses they give out in movie theaters?

yeah, realD should be circular polarized, just like some passive 3d television glasses !
make sure you get proper filters to get the best channel separation possible.
my filters used to testing are linear and not very practical, but i might use the frame and get some circular filters soon.

anyone knows a good supplier for sheets of circular polarization filters ?

if the price isn`t too high it might be worth the risk.

i don`t expect any problems though.

i guess you mean a stack and not a blend?

i wonder what happens with the 3d image at the blend zone?
