I took this out of the case last week and cleaned it up. Watched a movie on it.

Last night I popped in a disk and it just came up disk error. Is it dead Jim?

Yes. I've brought home at least 20 portable DVD players from the recycler, most with 'no read disc' messages. After working on each one carefully, I programmed a new message to come on the screen before I took it back to the recycler.

'dis is POS'.

Yeah they sure aren't built very well. My 2002 Polaroid is a better build but it won't read disk's I've recorded with my Pioneer DVD recorder so I can't share my considerable ( shakey ) video skills with anyone on it.

I bought this one because it played everything! Nuts!

Try cleaning the laser with a Q tip dipped in water. If not, you're SOL

Hmmmm still being cranky. Takes 2-3 tries with story bought DVD's. Reads MP3 DVD's no problem, even scratched ones.

OK where can I get a new laser for this? MAC?
