If it was any other company I'd say "yeah, whatever". But they've proven themselves with their revolutionary camera equipment.
Their sub $10K Red Ray 4K cinema laser projector is the one that people are really waiting for ...

The biggest problem is that 4K material is really rare.
Blowing your 1080p sources will not bring that much it even gets worse if the video processor does his job not good enough.

Newer compression can do a better job than VC1 and then like. So 4k may be all right with those speeds.

Luckily the Radiance PRO will be out soon. It will have 4k HDMI input and 4k HDMI outputs and be able to scale between all resolutions. There will also be a model with 5x HDMI outputs, one for audio and the other four for 4k at 60Hz to four panels.

No plans for blending. However, the FPGA is much larger and has more bandwidth so I would think that a blend might be possible... though I really don't know. What I do know is that the PRO will be able to do 1080p at 96Hz which will be killer for 3D.
Just as a note, the PRO is going to be priced quite a bit higher than the XE is now. I think that may push it outside what most folks on this forum are going to want to spend. So to be clear, the current Radiance line will continue to be available at the current price point for a very long time.
Let's not highjack this thread though

You are right, 4K material is really rare but that will change very quickly. January, Odemax will launch which will be a source for 4K exclusively from all over the world. You just need a Red Ray Player or Red Ray Projector. You don't need a 4K display yet to to begin viewing the content. The Red Ray player will scale all the material to any 1080P screen and look superior to Blu Ray. Then when you can afford the display, upgrade.
It's good to see that Lumagen is progressive and moving to 4K as well.

I am really hoping that both projectors will be released by the time NAB rolls around. The Home version was shown last year. I would imagine that they will have both at the one coming up. I just checked the list of exhibitors for CES and it looks like they are not going to be there unless they plan to crash the party at the last minute.
The next big thing to watch for will be the Odemax release at Sundance next month. I suspect that they will have a Crimson projector in at least one of the theatres as well to go along with the distribution platform launch so we might get some feedback from movie goers soon.

No, the problem is you've misinterpreted Mb (megabits) as MB (megabytes). So your calculations are off by a factor of 8, and the original claims were correct.

Since this isn't film, there are no nitrates at all. And yes, those bitrates are lower than (many) Blu-rays.

That is what my BR 909 is lookin for 
Unfortunately my external box only support 720@120Hz maybe there is another coming ?
