Guys

I finally snapped; the black cloth I had thumbtacked to the walls around my screen was no longer acceptable. I considered painting the wall, I considered black carpet, I was not confident that those approaches would look good. I found some styrofoam slabs at Lowe's, they are intended as in-wall insulation for home builders. They make these in big 4 x 8 sheets, two inches thick; I had Lowe's cut them into sixteen inch widths; I cut the lengths as needed at home. Stewart made their Velux fabric available to me; I bought thirty feet of it, 27 inches wide, enough to wrap the sixteen inch planks with a bit to spare. The Velux comes adhesive backed; we used dryer vent aluminum tape on the back for a durable completion. Some Velcro strips held the finished panels nicely to the wall. Power outlets made it impractical to install across the bottom of the screen, but that is out of view from the sofa anyway. I hope you guys like my improvement.

Screen minus the awful fabric

And done!
