So I see prices falling in the PJ and VP markets. Good deals right??
So I'm thinking that must mean here comes the 4K stuff. Even the Blu-ray players are starting to offer 4K scaling.
I'm planning an upgrade in the future and was wondering if I should wait for the 4K stuff or not?
Years ago I screwed up buying my pre-amp early, (no HDMI) the following model had HDMI.
My wife says I'm OCD when it come to making big purchases and to get off my wallet. I say thorough research and I hate buyer's remorse.
What do you predict a year from now?

Sure 4K is coming.. And after that there will be something new again.. So you can actually wait your hole life to buy something.
one thing i noticed is that new is not always better.. Today i feel its more about features and fancy specs.. And often saturated specs. and useless features..
No matter if you buy projector scaler or surround processor, its for sure worthless the next day.. So buy to keep, or at least don't use money you cant spare..

As with HD, 4K won't arrive all at once. Last year Sony released one of the first (if not the first) consumer-grade 4K projector, and this year a couple of companies are selling 84" 4K flat-panel TVs for serious price premiums (over 20K). It will probably be 3 or so years before 4K displays reach reasonable pricing for the enthusiast, and several years after that before your average person will be able to pick one up for what they deem to be a reasonable price. Although the new H.265 codec could allow 4K to be distributed on a 50GB BD, the BD spec would have to be amended, new players have to be designed, and then studios have to start outputting 4K content. I think such a move is at least another 3-5 years out. Of course you can head over to AVS and see all the constant bickering about timelines and such if you're bored
If you're asking whether it's safe to buy some 1080p equipment for a good price now, I'd say yes, especially if you're buying a display under 70", where you really wouldn't see a difference between a 4K and 1080p display anyways unless you're sitting insanely close. If you're looking at projectors, the benefit becomes noticeable, although the price will be at a premium for several more years at least.

He's mad at us for making Hog a moderator. He took his ball and went home.

Hog and Curt covered it. 4k pjs at affordable prices are a couple of years away. 4k content is an unknown right now.
