Hello

Go to Manual adjust. Autolock was always a big problem on ECPs.

if I heat it up (hit it with a blow dryer) it regains lock. I like it cold in the room, I know some people are going to say turn the heat up...

I may have found the problem, might be the first card on the left, I swapped it out and so far so good, just had to adjust the master horizontal size and that was it... crossing my finger for now.

I have the exact same problem with the same vidikron / ecp4500 machine as yours. This is my 2nd winter with it and last year from Nov-March it did this. Just last week it started doing this again. Wink

When you say the first board on the left, you mean the "vertical board" or V Reg & H Def board, correct? Did you, by chance, swap it out for a newer issue of that board? That is, the 4500 parts I've gathered use 1870-04P Iss2 or 1870-06P Iss 2 through 49-96. I do have an 1870-04P Iss3 that is dated from 19-97, which is very late for an ECP, I think. I'll try this swap tomorrow. I know Curt has indicated they are interchangeable, but they are different...

To others: the problem with going manual lock is that the ASR (Auto Source Recognition w\ saved programs) doesn't work unless in the PJ is in autolock mode for both H and V. This means my programs don't automatically pull up with I switch sources under my current setup. So, to me, resolving this would be really nice.

V Reg & H Def board

no clue if it is newer or not, I have enough cards for this thing that I could replace ALL of them 4 times.

Mine hasn't been doing having the problem the last few days -- bit too warm, I guess. Once it starts doing it every time it has been off overnight, I'll swap them and make notes.

BTW, when you go digital, don't pitch your boards...let me know as I *might* want them. Late model 4500 boards are getting trickier to find -- I think Curt may only have a few of them as he got rid of a TON of his ECP stuff.

cheers,
Matt
