Guys
For those of you who have not torn your LC tubes apart before, you can see in the picture how the C element lens holds the glycol fluid in the shape of a lens, right against the tube face. Eliminating the air gap to the first lens provides superior contrast ratio and inky blacks. Glycol also provides heat dissipation.
You can also see why LC glycol is not tinted, as the thickness varies out to the edges. This tube has half a load of glycol, yours are probably full to the top.

nice patent - the bottom of column 6 and top of column 7 state the red, green, and blue lenses have different field curvatures. For all clear sets (non-tinted) are lenses generally marked R,G,B even thought they aren't tinted? If so, has anyone noticed mixing them up matters as a matter of practice?
