We're about the same age I think, and I can tell you I'm getting tired. I definitely won't be able to do this for years on end - that's for sure. Not sure how much longer I have left, but I can feel the gas tank getting emptier.
The only way I can make this work is that my wife is part-time, so she takes up a lot of slack for me. I'm always there for dinner, and I'm always there for homework and bed time. Beyond that, it's work, work, and more work.
We're trying to get a couple people hired to spread the work out a little more, but that's proving easier said than done, and hiring in and of itself comes along with more work - at least in the short term.
Cheers,

Make it happen SC fo sho. I am going to be 43 years old. I just cannot do 60 hours a week.
Every once in a while if needed for emergency reasons, yes, but regularly no. I refuse. I dont have much time left here and I want it spent teaching my children what is important so they too may have a future
Hang in there don't give up. May we get our just due

I wouldnt say youre weird at all for doing that, id say youre looking for trouble!! You probably think im a sad sack for living on my own at 32 and not wanting to "chase skirts"!! I love it here though, ive got no neighbours close by, can do what i like, so peaceful and quiet. No stress at all.
I work 38 hrs a week and thats it, once 3pm hits im out the door. I did long hours years ago and i woke up one day and realised what a waste of a life it was. What is the point in working your ring off to make a heap of money you dont have time to enjoy, then in the end spend most of that money trying to keep yourself healthy? F*** that. |
Yeah, you Aussie's got it good lol, so much so when I was there, most had plenty of time to keep up with American politics (I was made sure to know opinions) and jobs, family, etc LOL
Not like I dont make the time to do the same. My KJV says WATCH so I dont blame them one bit.
I agree at this point F*** that fo sho. Time to spend the rest of my life on my FAMILY. What ever time that may be. Oh, and I need to burn the living crap out of my current tubes and post pics of what it means to run your gains at max.

Yeah mate, life if for enjoying. My dad died last week, and he always used to say to me way back when i was working 2 jobs 7 full days a week " you cant take it with you..." He spent alot of his life working alot more than he needed to, and at the age of 60, there was a hell of alot of things he wanted to do that he never got to do, for a long time thinking there will always be later on....

I agree. Unless your like Curt and love what you do, then I have no desire to work 90 hour weeks. I have been working 6 day weeks for the last two months and sucks. Get home at 9 or 10, mess around, go to bed, wake up in pain, go back and work. Oh well at least I making decent money. After this project ends next week, I am slowing way down.

He could be very difficult to get along with at times, however everything he did do he did for us, and towards the end when he found out he had cancer he changed his attitude alot towards people and was alot better to be around. He always wanted to do and see alot of things and places, alot of which he never got to do, a couple months ago he ordered himself a radio controlled plane, which unfortunately he never got because the place he ordered it from took weeks before they put the order in and he ended up canceling it. Towards the end he said a few times to me that if i want something ir want to do or see something, go ahead and do it, cause you never know if youll get to do it later.

No... It's GIVING me the prime of my life!
And I'm so sorry about your Dad. 60 was still young...
I also thought a lot about things to do later in life, but I have realized that every day is a gift.
I'm very fortunate that at 48 I feel like a damn teenager, in more ways than one...
So yeah... I'll enjoy that gift while it lasts.
