I have a friend who has 2 cine9, the fans are mounted as in the photo ElTopo
they are reversed on the two projectors
I wonder if this is not mon909 they are fitted incorrectly?
Other 909 owner can watch their projectors?

Since the Cine 9 is MUCH quieter than the 909 the cooling system has to be very different in the 2 projectors.

The only chance would be to change the fan control of the BR909 to make the beast quieter BUT i would not do that at all.

You do not want to risk a board failure due to heat problems !

HATER! Mr. Green

I have 5 sets in stock right now including my test chassis. I haven't told anyone yet, but I scored a DTV 1200 that should be here in 2 weeks. Now THAT is the holy grail of CRT projectors!

It can be yours... IF THE PRICE IS RIGHT! Thumbs Up

BR909 owners are always trying to make their machines less loud. And you can, without doubt. Till they became dead silent. Serial or parallel resistors, super silent PC fans, Cine 9 software flash and so on.
As Mike Parker said several times, the fan circuit in those projectors are too complicated to mess with. The clever controller in those beasts keeps an eye on the temperature of the electronics and speed of the fans. It is not easy to slow down the fans without increasing the temperature. I think we have few options:
1. Learn to live with the noise an 909 produce.
2. Use a vented hushbox.
3. Reproduce the fan circuit of Cine 9.
Third option is the best if you ask me, but involves more than a software upgrade. While Cine 9 use the same fans as 909, three major modifications were done to make it silent ( 32dbA @ 1 meter distance ):
1. Software limitation of upper scanning frequencies ( 132KHz horizontal instead of 180 on BR909 and 210Hz vertical instead of 240 ).
2. Two fan speed regulators R763706, one for the fans in the convergence tray and one for left and right back fans. The middle-back fan remains temperature controlled by the SMPS.
3. Metal baffles were mounted on the back ( between the fans and the perforated grille ) and sides to reduce air turbulence.
As for why the front fans on some 909 and Cine 9 are inverted, is still a mystery for me. I saw projectors with the left one being turned around, some with the right one and i've got my 909 with both as intakers. If we take a look at the technical drawing, it is clear that they should blow hot air away. Maybe Curt or Mike can shine a light on this ?

Hello, I also love that Greg and Mike give their views on the reverse of the 909 fans

Look at those. Confusing as hell...
Wrong cooling will end sooner or later with coked boards.

EHT board from Curt arrived, thanks again !

Tried get the set running again with a brand new quad and the new EHT from Curt.

Same behaviour: After pressing the main power button i can here one pop (like a fuse blows again). The set was not even fired up. Damn Sad Will measure again which fuse is it this time.

My goal was to operate this projector and not to have spare parts (which is also good).

One other option would be to buy a late Runco/Barco 1209s set for dropping the tubes in and keep the Cine9 for spares......

Any other hints ?

thank you
ElTopo

THe HV splitter may be bad, you may have a bad HV lead, or the pop may have nothing to do with HV?

After removing the EHT and Horizontal board i started the projector again.

Same behaviour it's alive for about 50 seconds and then back to standby.

Last time the pop comes from the other EHT and the fuse was gone. This time the fuse on the new EHT is still good.

Measured the fuses on the AC board and SMPS all are good.

I don't get it why the projector goes to standy all the time.

As mentioned before the complete tray with the controller board on it works fine in my BR909.

For me it seems i have issues with the power ?!
