JVC pseudo 4k looks MUCH better than Sony true 4k, though the Sony actually has better black.

DP has some really nice new projectors and the price is coming down on smaller models.

Lumagen, ChromaPure, and SpectraCal have released the 5x5x5 color calibration system for the Radiance color gamut allowing for 125 point calibration on the gamut. This should really help nonlinear digital projectors have much better colors.

+1

I watched the Sony 4K demo with Craig...Great blacks...Almost CRT...Weird looking white crush, also some motion artifacts, might have been a calibration issue as Craig mentioned. The 4K upscale does some artificial sharping that was detectable. Some of the demo material had frame creation turned on...Which IMO looks freaky weird. I'll keep my CRT till the price comes down to the $3k range.

The High end e-Shift2 (pseudo 4K) JVC looked really good. I did notice what looked like misconvergence. Would have liked to see A/B comparison between the low end e-shift and the high end. JVC didn't have a low end e-shift demo unit.

Gary and Draganm, next year CEDIA is in Denver!

... and it's already up for sale in on our ChromaPure order page at our CurtPalme.com discounted prices: http://www.curtpalme.com/ChromaPure.shtm

Good article by Tom here explaining it: https://www.curtpalme.com/forum_archived/viewtopic.php@t=32073.html

Interesting about the better black levels on the Sony than JVC. I'll have to so some more reading. Which Sony model?

Craig is this in Calman 4 or version 5 only? I haunt done any calibration work since last winter and missed the new release so i'm out of date with any new info.

Interesting feedback Craig and Mike. The RS48 is supposed to have the new eshift and CMS for under $5k. Also, it looks like JVC has a new bulb that lasts a claimed 4k hours and only dims 15% by 2k hours. If they can meet half that claim, then they have done something impressive.
