The short answer: Yes
It should handle 720p and 1080i signals

It should accept the signal, but these sets are very old now, they die more often if they driven hard, but at least the spare parts are costs next to nothing
If your macbook has a similar port you can connect to the pj.

It does have a VGA output, but dont i need to somehow convert the signal from RGBHV to RGBs?

They are the same, all signals are present in the VGA port in addition it has some more communication pins, but you don't need that for a projector. Every analog monitor gets it's picture through Red, Green, Blue, Horizontal sync, Vertical sync signals.

I know this technique because I used it, but the sync voltage is coded incorrectly and unstable. More you risk, a term abyss of your entry card ... you have to choose.

Yes, if you can find a video driver for the computer that forces negative sync. THe computer guys will be more helpful than I am in that department.
