Finally moved the projector to where it is suppose to be Very Happy

Worked on the first startup Cool

However, I now detect a tiny amount of arcing that is fairly frequent. (could just be static?)
And on the blue tube I can see some unfocused blooms that is pulsing very faintly.
Raster is sharp and shows no sign of a problem.

Would this be an indication of something going wrong or is it normal?

Marquee 7500 + stig

Something in the HV section is about to fail, and it's not going to be pretty!

Most likely the blue tube HV lead is bad. I would change them all to be safe, as a strong HV arc can cause all sorts of board failures. I have new HV leads at $25 each incl shipping.

It's very faint and is like small tick. Sounds less than when you start the projector up or shut it down.

Also I have installed a stig board but it does not seem to be recognized and shows as not installed, any ideas?

OK, so don't take my advice. Smile

Stig board- it could be defective or the CLM may not have firmware on it that recognizes the stig board. You also need the daughter board on the CLM in order for the stig function to work along with the output board and the yokes with the stig windings on it.

Well, if it was just unplugging and replacing a cable it might be more practical for me to swap them. But now there is no guarantee that I won't make it worse.
Relocate the cable might help prevent erosion of the lead or what it discharges against. Although I imagine it has decreased a bit in intensity. Could just be my imagination.

Daughter board is present on the CLM (unless there should be two)
Do you know what firmware level is needed? Although the fact that it is mentioned in the menu should indicate some sort of compatibility I think.

Yokes are installed and it was the stig amp board I just installed.
Maybe I should reseat it or check for connectivity as there is a chance the ground wire mod might be interfering.

I notice the glow on the blue tube is following the raster but unlike the raster it won't change in brightness. What would cause this?
I doubt it is bright enough to show up on screen so I won't worry about it for that.

You are missing the stig daughter board. You need two daughter boards.

Would a 50-2010-02P from an 8000 work?

Ill do a deeper investigation into the HV leads to see if there is any sign of HV damage.

Should there be absolutely no static noise from the projector at all?

I didn't get into the menus long enough to test if astig worked.

The arcing picked up to a more steady arc after cleaning so I managed to isolate the problem to the red tube.
Likely the HV lead somewhere close to the splitter.

I found the article on splicing HV leads, and I have six tubes that could be used as donors replacing about 2-3dm of HV lead before the splitter.
And insulation shroud could be added just like on the HVPS.

I might be crazy and/or stupid for trying though.

Another question, should the metal covers over the focus/conv coils be grounded?

Blue tube still showed some glow with other tubes HV disconnected so it might be slightly contaminated or similar. G2 values was fine though. So that is probably a problem I will have to live with. Especially as it does not show up on screen.

most likely the connector that goes into the splitter.

replace about half of the hv lead with the connector with a donor.

The splice appears to be successful. No apparent arcing on red tube.
There was some small "tic" discharge but that appeared to emanate from the splitter as I had the other HV leads disconnected.
And even that went away.
I used about six layers of heat shrink.

Now I have to wait for the weather to cool down a little before I can make mechanical alignment as I don't want my bedroom heating up too much.

As for cable management I use the led shield as an isolator between HV and other cables wherever possible.
