I have been meaning to ask around here about eisenmann's barco hdmi on-board card. It's kind of sad that momme doesn't have one for barcos. I want to know if is worth the 700 dollars to update my 1208 barco to that. I checked my tubes, green is pretty much done for and blue is almost there, i'll say between a 5-6 in the scale for blue, green is about 4-5 in the scale oretty burned out. Red is fine.

With tubes in that state, unless you plan to retube I wouldn't spend that much on a pj upgrade. Look for a Fury II and you'll have HDMI connectivity.

A fury one should also work just fine. Will your 1208 sync to both negative and positive sync on inputs 3 and 5 ?

Thanks digital, Yes I guess it all comes down to that. I will re-tube her, but I've heard that the hd fury will not have the same razor sharp image than an on board circuit hdmi?

Will YOU be able to truly see the difference is the real question?

yes I am sure Eisemann will say that. perhaps its even true but difference is smaller than 99% of ppl will see. and the Fury you can always plug in to another projector, or even tv. and its easier to sell if you need to, not many ppl will shell a lot of dough for that hdmi-card these days.

Eisemann makes a lot of claims or should I say clams on his HDMI board. Now back to my negative or positive sync on input three and five question...
If you can find a fury 3 it outputs both pos and neg sync with a switch. Not sure about the Fury 2.

Thanks everyone for the wonderful input in this, now the question is. Who has pt18-205 tubes for sale? VDC is charging me a fortune to retubes these babies. So who has something for sale? I need a green one and a blue one. I need a green one the most.

PT-205 are VERY hard to find. I have a brand new 180DVB (stock Barco tube) that I'd sell for $500 incl shipping.

they told me it was 1100 dollars to re tube each tube since they are high resolution tubes. Too much money for me. Curt are those high resolution tubes? are they goign to be a step down of the pt18-205s?

I'll let others comment on how big the difference is. The 180 tubes are the stock tubes that came with almost all 1208/808 sets. You sure wont' get twice the difference between the stock and high resolution tubes, but I do think the beam spot is tighter on the P series tubes. How big a difference, I'll let others comment...
