Hi There,

Has anyone played with the HCFR software. I downloaded it last night and it looks potentialy good.....However there are 4 settings for the Spyder2 - standard, LCD, CRT, PROJ and do you have the baffle/fliter on or off and the sensor facing screen or PJ.

CRT could be direct view, LCD is wrong, Standard i'm unsure, PROJ sounds interesting ?

Alas while the software has an english option, the help is french....It seems intuative if you know a bit about calibrating, if your a newb, start reading or learning french !

With Calman i use it as advised for a CRT Projector with thier CRT Front setting, the baffle off and in reflective mode, so i measure off the screen.

When i tried last night, i couldn't get sensible readings from it, but in CalMan i have a fairly straight grey scale.

Ta,
Lee

I Have them both the three headed sensor is meant to measure three points for white field uniformity, but I use the three head sensor directly over the crt lenses and adjust the three colours all at once.
Doing Greyscale at the projector or right at the screen on my screen yeild very similar results .

$7K for a rarely used tool for a hobby all over what is probably a sub $5K projector?????? Shocked And you have two of the things??? Huh. Unless you're doing ISF, or are the idle rich, hire a pro to set it up. There. I jsut saved you money. Feel free to send me just 50% of what I just saved you and we'll call it even. Mr. Green

And you would be extremely naive to think that he paid that much for it. He probably paid less for it than most here spent on their Spyders. I found one for around $200 about six months ago, but didn't pull the trigger. I wish I had.

Probably, but fortunately these things will continue to get better and cheaper. Of course, I may not need one where I am going. Smile

Who is this Eric? Razz

Is there any procedure using HCFR with Spyder2 to calibrate a CRT FP? It is a little difficult to find one on A site.

Was it easy to access the CA-1 files inside the unit to calibrate it? Or was it calibrated by some other method?
