There seems to be a lot of options for ceiling mounts available that would fit a JVC RS45 or similarly sized projector... from really inexpensive to insanely priced.

The JVC's a bit larger than usual with 13.27" foot spacing side to side and 11.42" foot spacing front to back.

This Monoprice one supports up to 50lbs but only for 12.59" foot spacing max:

A couple of simple 15" flat metal plates with 4 holes in each could be used to bring in the feet by an inch or two, no? Mount the two plates to the projector first, and then use holes on the plates drilled closer together to attach to the ceiling mount.

The mount is stupidly cheap ($15) but seems to get good reviews.

What am I missing here? Why pay $100-200?

Kal

I made a different solution, after trying different mounts for my JVC. Think its much more stable, and its standing on its feet, make it very easy to level the projector. It also takes a bit of the ventilator noise... And you can paint it any color you like.. Wink

Ha, ha I like the Barco mount for the Sony. I just reused the uni-strut I had my Sony CRT projector hanging from to mount my JVC RS40U. Needless to say way overkill for a ~40lb projector. Smile
