Make sure you tighten the focus nuts well!!! I had a lens shipped to me and the lens moved and the inner lens cam into contact with the covers they put there. Maybe put tape over them as well so they stay in place.

NO! Buy some heavy duty cardboard bowls of the best size and place them on the end without the caps. You can use cellophane to wrap around the lenses to hold the bowls in place. I also place a few strips of tape over the caps because sometimes they shatter in shipping.

Never let anything touch the optical surfaces. Bubble wrap or anything else will scratch the coatings. Bowls are the best thing to use.

Geez. I guess the lens I shipped analogrocks a few years ago didn't fit any of the "safe shipping methods" mentioned above. Embarassed

He said his secretary told him they were all but out of the box when they delivered them.

LOL you used a roll of tape on the top of the box. One stretched out piece on the bottom Laughing

Don't forget a box has more than one side.

If you have to put any tape on the barrel of the lens to secure the bowls use a good quality artist tape such as this, Easy to remove and no residue... Wink

Blarg, so much work. Wish i could just give them away, hate trashing the stuff. But if i sell them on ebay for 50 bucks, shipping will be 40. If UPS or USPS breaks them in shipping i'm basically screwing myself out of money, i just don't know if it's worth it.

For that it is not. Sometimes you just gotta cut your losses, at least that's what I do. I've thrown piles of good parts including lenses into the trash. It just isn't always worth the time or hassel.
