Rather than contaminate the other thread I thought I'd start a new one.

I've always wanted to be able to feed the G90 with a 1080P @ 72Hz signal. I always thought the only option was either HTPC (not an option) or the high priced Lumagen XS+/XE+. Reading in another thread it appears the DVDO VP50 Pro is capable of this output for a lot less money. From the spec sheet......

"Progressive Cadence DetectionTM– Enables 24/48/72Hz and 25/50/75Hz output from film-based content at 480p, 576p, 720p and 1080p resolutions"

Are both units really capable of processing the bandwidths needed at this resolution? If you're on a budget is there a reason not to choose the DVDO?

I have a vp50 but no g90 to test it. I don't think my 8500 would even sync. However I do have a 9500 I could test for ya if helps.

I'm using the VP50, and think its a much better unit than the VP50 Pro. You will save money buying the old VP50, and get better PQ and less firmware bugs. I need to do a lot of underscan to center the picture right after using the data allowing 72hz, but i love 72hz, its so smoooooth.. Its also possible to run 75 hz with max 1800x1010 75hz

The VP50 is good for making the color space conversion from 4:2:2 to RGB and deinterlacing, but its don't do perfect upscaling. To much ringing. I use my Denon DVD A1XVA / 5900 for outputting 1080i that is almost perfect to me.

There is no help to get from DVDO. tryed write DVDO support 3 times, no reply.

Im sure the new Lumagen is better all around, but also much more expensive.

You might try to contact Black Magic and see if they can add 72 support to the Teranex or if it is software upgradeable.
