Gah, you returned it? Someone here would have wanted the case off that nonworking set!
CRT is a complete do it yourself thing, as if you probably have gathered. No company (short of mine which is a 1 man show), and the nice people here really want anything to do with CRT at this point. So, it's trial by fire!
What I would do is post where you're located. Chances are there's someone here that's within driving range that can assist with a first time setup. You might also have a bad LV power supply that is overheating the tubes, I get that hint from your blue output that's low.
You're also right, these can be a money pit, so before doing anything or spending any money, you want to check the condition of the tubes and the filament voltage. You need a voltmeter to do that, and you need to partially pull the set apart (takes 5 minutes).
Post your location first though. Worst case, you can put the case of your set in the buy/sell section, and part the rest of hte set out. If I'm wrong, and the tubes are in decent shape, and you are willing to do a bit of DIY work, then you'll have a really nice set, but yep, don't buy the HDMI card or transcoder until you know that the set is worth putting money into.

yeah no kidding, why the heck did you take back the other one The Shiny Fiberglass case is the most valuable thing on it. There is nothing special about those lenses, they are clear (un-tinted) HD-8's and worthless.
If all the tubes are bad, and it sounds like they are, then sell the cases and all the other parts including the power supplies. You will have enough money to buy a nice CRT from someone who can guarantee it like Curt and a few others.

Yeah, those cases are nice..but isn't there an issue with Vision 2 cases fitting a 9" set? I think the front lens cover is a bit different in size.

Nevertheless I would have taken the cover in as trade/credit towards an HD mod's package and/or I know of at least 1 guy with an 8500 who really wanted to buy it.

Right, but just cut the whole opening larger, in a big oval, and the 9" lenses will stick right through it. Who looks at the front of a CRT anyways? It's the rest of the case that kicks butt!

No Draganm I'm not ignoring you guys. I,m also juggling a larg format printer disaster which is much more important at this time. Unfortunately last night I lost he battle with the printer so now I'm back on the projector. I will try and see if the store still has the 2nd projector but I have a feeling they put it back on the floor. Its at the Goidwill in Palm Springs, CA. Good luck. If any of you know about Coachella fest then you know roughly where I'm at.
I finally got around to taking the hood off the working unit and found a sheet of paper inside that says it is in fact a Marquee and not a Vision 2. I haven't spent too much time on pulling any wires to try and flip the video yet. I just got it in the house today so that is my new fun project. All tubs Arleen to be equally bright so I think I'm looking good. I'm looking into a used Runco scaler on EBay. I think once I get that working with my unit I'll have a better idea how well this unit works. Untill then I'm going to find a spot I can keep it without my wife getting too upset with me. She's already not too thrilled I bout it.: )

Oh and I forgot to mention the other non working case was missing the lens cover. More than Likely because as stated by an earlier poster the lenses were larger then the case allowed.

You're right, Electrohome/MArquee made the chassis, all Vidikron did is make the case. You might want to go back and get the other set. If it's got larger lenses, then it's the Vision 1, which is a better set than the Vision 2 that you have.
If you want, I've got a top of the line Runco/NEC quadrupler that will do 1024p. Yours for a whopping $25 plus shipping. It's the IPS4000Q, a great unit.

Get the other set and buy the scaler from Curt. Drags already has a buyer for the Vision 2 case so you can recoup a good chunk of change there and if the non working set is a Vision One you can either try to get it up and running or part it out. Hard to lose if the price is under $800 for the set.

Component is not RGB; you need a device in between called a transcoder.
For floor use you need to move some plugs around, explained here: http://www.etechvideo.com/techtip3.htm

That was incredibly easy. It made all the difference in continuing to work on the projector. Thank you for the instructions. Now I need to go back and grab those HD tubes from the one I returned. Little by little I'm staring to enjoy and appreciate this project more and more. I told the wife I bought to sell, now I may be keeping it.

I took everyone's scolding for returning the 2nd projector and ran back to the store today and grabbed it. If I can't get it to light up I will sell the case and lenses.
There is a Quadscan being offered to me from Curt (Thanks Curt) along with your NEC quadrupler. Since there both around the same prices and nobody is getting rich off my decision what is the best choice?
So the lenses on the 2nd projectors are Delta HD-10's should I do the swap? Also I looked into the lenses with a flashlight as suggested and I see no burn or browning on the inside. Does that mean they should still light up? It fires up when I turn the poweron just the the 1st one that lights up but nothing... I'm wondering is there is a wire loose.
