I wound up with the 'leftover' DRS-640. I picked it up from Jeremy a couple weeks ago when I dropped off the Marantz receiver I sold to him.
With the addition of a 110v - 220v 50w transformer, the DRS-640 is up & running & sounding just fine. Now I just have to iron out the sticky tape drawer issue. I can only surmise that it's old grease or maybe a slipping belt that's causing the drawer to not open without any assistance.
Thanks for the freebie J, $6.99 invested for a nice sounding vintage deck!

Glad it went to someone who wanted it vs tossing it out
If you think that one sounds nice, then you haven't heard nothing yet the DRS-810 will smoke that unit and look good doing it

I thought I was the only one still using cassette tapes... pleased to know there's more lost souls
