The black doesn't look bad at all, Steve. Never seen one that way. The woodgrain that you usually see (posted earlier) tacked on looks heinous.
Still not a fan of the ehome form factor, but your black one is definitely a major improvement from any I've ever seen.

The natural wood tone MP9 Athanasios posted earlier is pretty clunky, and mine is still, especially from certain angles where it just looks like a huge blob.
My other case of course transforms the Marquee, but as anyone who has owned either the VV1 or its case knows, it's a supreme PITA to take on and off. It fits poorly and is really, really difficult to get the top two eyelet screws for the side panels back on.
Here's my other Ultra.
I personally always liked the Barco 808/909 form factor the best. They are also the most machine like and easy to work on, by far.

The vision 1 case is the best marquee by far but still looks like a cross between a late 60s Vette and a marshmellow I really like the Barco 9/ 909 and the XG case design, although the XG needs a dark paint job if it is out of a hushbox. Those pics Case posted of his Runco in "antireflective" black look sharp.

Ok I spent way to much time painting this case, but I guess the Barco looks kind of nice. Right now I am a little furious over the paint I used. I rubbed it with a damp cloth to take out some finger prints and the finish started to come off. Just a little, but enough to piss me off. This was 48 hours after painting. I am not worried about the case, but this is the same stuff I use in my business. I always tell my customers to wait 24 hours. Oh well, sorry for the rant.
I will add that I used pure black for the base coat and a 50/50 mix of black and blue for the diluted top coat.

That looks awesome, Spanky!!! Looks like the 909's I saw when they were brand spanky new back in the pre-9/11 days. Damn, that was over 10 years ago!
I'm surprised you took the finish off after 48 hours... That sounds like an adhesion problem. How did you prep? Did you use a good primer? You said it's the same stuff you used in your business... Can you use a product intended for a porous surface on a non-porous surface?

It was only a little bit of finish. It wasn't a prep issue. I used the base coat for hard plastic that my supplier has. This was more of a top coat issue and it should not have happened .

Spanky not to bust'em for you, but did you get all four working? Or was this just painted be cause you like looking at the machines instead of watching a movie?

Comparing the pics above between the black Vision 1 and Barco 909 black, IMO i definitely prefer the sexier longer casing of the Barco.
