It is going to be kind of hard to get a good image, since the horizontal resolution is 3840.

According to Wiki digital cinema is 3996x2160. The Marquee is 2048x1536. so with a scaler you could get close blending two. You'll lose a bit in the horizontal. But i bet it still look awesome. If i had 4 K capable PC id give it a try on my 8500's.

it have to be a smaller blend zone of 100 compared to my 188 i use now for 1920. so 2048-50 or 1998 to each PJ.

Hi,

4K is the quadruple amount of pixels instead of the double (as the naming would suggest). So -in general- I would think that two 9-inchers wouldn't be sufficient. A blend of four 9-inchers (each of them doing around 999 x 540) would of course work. Even four good 8 inch EM focused LC sets could work well. The processor for splitting the 4K signal into four quadrants could be the cost driving factor here...

4k DCI is 4096 x 2160, guys.

The vertical res (2160)... Yes, you'd be using 33% more tube face than normal 16:9, but the resolution is double 1080p. To put it in persecutive, full-raster 2160p would be the same line density as running 1620p compressed raster (as we do with 1080p).

Horizontal... Athanasios... I think you meant to add 50 pixels, not subtract... So, 2098 to each projector for a 100 pixel blend zone. Of course, that would only be a 3.5-inche blend zone on a 12' wide screen - which is tiny. Double that would still be small, but much better, but then you're running 2148 to each projector. The pixel clock at 2148x2160 is over 222Mhz - throw in some porches and things are going to be what, 250mhz? I think it's going to be getting pretty soft at that resolution - especially on anything but a 909 or modded Ultra with a really good video chain.

I'd still like to see it, though... Somebody get to work on it, will you? Wink

Your right. I was thinking QuadHD. Of course, no one knows what consumer 4k will be, if any. At this point, there is only one consumer 4k pj. I think most of those people who are in love with it are the owners who just dropped $20k on it. For CRT, it is kind of moot until there is 4k or QHD source.

Well the peaking circuit in the marquee's i have allow for up to 240mhz pixel clock so I can get close. the Tv-ones can handle it as well. But do we really need full resolving power? many here like not being able to see scan lines so if get a little soft to some it wont matter. I being one of them.

And adding two more blend units is no problem for me I have more Marquees too. so a quad blend could possibly seen in the future . Wink

You need to get those 9" LC tubes in your blend first Smile

So what would you do, put 2 on the floor for the bottom 2 quadrants and leave 2 on the ceiling?

Or go rear projection and you wouldn't need any keystone. Can't imagine what a 13' rear projection screen would cost Shocked

The TV one C2-2350A should support up to 2048x2048 on the analog output.
