Ok sorry mac, I accidently followed the wrong wire, so I deleted my last post as not to confuse us. So many wires in a tight space!

The transformer connects to board 1U-3638-6

Thank god. I saw the email and said, That can't be right... LOL.

Well... heres an interesting update, the board, once I removed it, is cracked in half... COULD THAT BE WHY IT WONT WORK??? Neutral

Wow this guy did a number on this receiver

Damn, that was to easy. I thought I would be in this for a while. Well at least until you get that fixed and see what happens...LOL.

Working on it now, got it glued together, just need to scrape some laquer and make the connections (and be very careful!)

Also as a side note, it appears as if someone has worked on this board, I can see some more crappy soldering!

As long as you have the board out, test ic406 and ic404. They should both test short.

One more thing. If you get that board repaired and put it back in and it does turn on, DONT connect any speakers yet.

After I fixed the Marantz SR8000 output & got that to fire up, first thing I did was to check for any AC or DC on the speaker outputs, didn't want to let the smoke out of my speakers prematurely....

Checked and adjusted DC offset for each speaker channel that way before declaring the receiver 'fixed'.

The only 2 ICs on the board are IC403 and IC405

IC 403 and IC405 do not read shorted, however before I had tested them, after I got the connections all soldered back together, I put the board back in the receiver and hooked it up, plugged it in, turned it on, nothing happened.

When I removed the board to check those 2 ICs the heatsinks they are attached to were warm

Ok, I guess we're not done. Now you have to test the output of that board. Connector CX054, pin 4 is gnd. Dmm on D/C and neg test leed connects there. Pin 3 is +6v. Pin 5 is +5v. let me know what you get.

Pin 3 I get 2.2V and pin 5 I get a dead short. I assume the little dot by the connector signified the 1st pin

You need to be sure you know which pins are which. Locate FB408. DMM on continuity test between that(either leg) and the 4th pin on the connector from either way and see which pin shoes continuity. That would then be pin 4.

I was correct, pin 5 is a dead short, pin 3 reads 2.2, at least I do now know that the dot means the first pin, as it should because it usually does in most other electronics i've come across

Thats means no output, not short. Dont confuse me, LOL.

Can you disconnect CX054 and test those pins on the board.
