Hey guys!

A long overdue update, and I am ALIIIVE and quite well.

For all of the old timers that remember me, I just thought I'd pop in and say hello. For the rest of you... Ask around. Mr. Green
I'm posting in the CRT forum since this is where we all hang out, sooo.....

I pretty much stopped posting after I got burned out with the same NEC questions over and over and over..... seems no one knew how to use a search button. I just got tired, I guess.

So I'm out of the Home Theater/CRT hobby, except for my own. When Doug got ill and I was asked to take over some of his customers I had to soundly decline. There are some not so nice reasons for this, but in the end it's just not worth it for me.

In the meantime I am doing my own thing and have branched into the Reel to Reel field. I collect and restore Studer and Revox gear, as well as B&O and Tandberg.

In short, I'm still having fun! I hang out on the Audio forums these days.

I'm still running the modded PG 10, but I have to admit... some of the DLP sets are getting pretty good...... Shocked
Got me thinking....

Hope everyone is doing well. Give me a shout, I'll watch this thread a while. I tend to stay out of other chatter these days.
I do miss you guys, but alas.. my life has also changed a lot. Not much to talk about on a projector forum anymore.

Oh yeah.... happy thanksgiving!

Marc

Yeah, it's been ages....

I just cannot believe how FAST this year has screamed by! Shocked I mean, seriously? I JUST packed up the Christmas lights.
Or so it seems.....

I laughed my ass off at Cliff's triple stack video. Priceless!

I COULD try that with the 4 PGplus machines I still have....... Twisted Evil

Marc

Ya know, you come in here bitching about all the NEC questions, and what do you do? You go an answer a bunch of NEC questions! Methinks it's your fault! Smile

Welcome back....

Hahaha.... yeah. Kept it short, though.

A Search will likely dig up everything he needs.

I thought you gave up "Minty" on ebay?? Mr. Green

Hey Marc,

just curious if you've seen any particular dlp that you found nice...

also, with respect to audio...are you a diy guy? Have you built any speakers?

Yes I have. The Optoma HD20... at Under a grand, it's not bad at all. Black is still not black, but the rest is very good.
Best price on one is $660.. soooo.... I may pick one up to just play with. A friend of mine brought his by and honestly, it wasn't bad!

But for movie watching on a budget I'm thinking the Epson 8700UB since
I couldn't care less for 3D. It has very good blacks. I just don't watch enough HT anymore to spend more than 2K on another
projector. At my rate, a 2000 hour bulb will last me another 20 years. Life keeps me otherwise occupied now.

I have built speakers before, but nowadays I don't. Nothing fancy back then, however.

Today I use a pair of Beolab Penta II's, and am happy with them.

Marc
