Hey everyone,
I have a Samsung HLT6176SX/XAA -- It is about 3(ish) years old. I replaced the lamp once about 2 years ago. Within the last day or two, when I turn the TV on the colors all seem to have a yellow/green tint to them. Colors like blues, whites, oranges, and reds are all much darker now --I believe due to this "tinting" problem. From what I've read -- this sounds like a color wheel issue. But I'm not 100% sure and I want to make sure that I buy the correct part so I'm not wasting money.
**EDIT**
I should point out that there are times when the color comes back to normal. It will last for a time, and then the "tinting" is back.

What are your thoughts? Any help/information is appreciated.

Macguyver is about the only person here with extensive experience with RP DLP units, but with the amount of junkers I'm seeing at the recycling depot, my guess is an issue with the light engine. I won't post more just in case I'm dead wrong...

The fact that it occasionally returns to normal makes this more puzzling. If it were a color wheel issue I'm not so sure you would have consistent lack of a particular color. Same goes for the DMD itself. It sounds more like a connection problem somewhere.
Is the TV sitting on a flat surface on the entire bottom surface?

Hey Macgyver,
It is sitting on a flat surface. I will recheck all connections...
Of note: I just watched an entire movie on the PS3 without any coloration changes. Perhaps this has something to do with my cable box? It is older than the TV -- perhaps a malfunction is coming from there. Of course, that would be much more preferable than something going wrong with my television.

CHeck the internal menus to see if they are the colors that you're used to. If not, it's a TV issue. If so, then check the component (?) cable to see if one is intermittent.
