Hello guys,
how many people are using 72/75 Hz on their CRT Projection systems?
what experiences do you guys have with the different HDMI solutions
out there? (Moome, HD Fury , ...)
had any problems with syncing to the higher bandwidths?
I do have a friend that just got the latest HDMI card for a Barco 1209s
and he's got a lot of problems with it concerning 72/75 Hz.
any insights appreciated
Michael

if he goes from a dvi-out to hdmi then he has the limit of the single link dvi which is 165mhz and not enough for 1920*1080*72hz.
this will result in vertical image wrap in the middle of the picture or at more positions in the picture.
using a hdmi out to the moome shouldn`t be a problem cause the moome cards max bandwidth is 225mhz.

no no , it's a brand new card doing 225 MHz Pixelclock, which is more than enough for 1080P 72/75 Hz
how sensitive are those solutions to slightly modified front, back and sync widths. will they still sync?
I have a V3 Moome Marquee card and never had any problems to any adjustments I had to make
on my Crystalio 2 ( now Lumagen XS+)
but how does a HD Fury or other solutions compare to the Moome ?
Thanks
Michael

shouldn`t be a problem with proper sync settings.
backporch about 280pixels sync width about 120 and front porch about 50.
this will work for 60 and 72hz, at least on my pj that is.
hdfury should be fine but i would choose the moome anytime, and his newest box has a sync emitter as an added bonus.

still back to the original question:
how many of you are using 1080P 72/75 Hz on their systems?

Hello nidi,
I use the Spatz HDMI specialist, that allows me to go into a Sony DVI Card. My VP50 is good for 75HZ, but I have to enter this manually. If I choose 75hz in the menu, the screen freezes. I have no CRT for 1080p, but I do everything else 72/75hz. This gives a much more realistic touch, like a painted picture you are looking at. Yes you loose some depth because of bandwidth. I do very big screens, so flicker would surround you at 50hz. Sometimes even a 60hz. When I am sick, I can not take a 50/60hz signal, it must be 75/72hz!
Viele Grüße aus München
Marc

I am using 1080p at 72hz on our g90. Using a Lumagen Mini and Moome Sony internal card. Works great; no problems.

I'm using 72Hz on my crt blend for film based material. Much smoother motion. I like it.

Thanks

Wallace- I thought the Mini wouldn't do 72hz and only the Radiance XS+ would; has something changed?
Here is text from Curt's site:
What does the "+" mean in the Radiance XS/XE+?
The Radiance XS+ and XE+ models add 1080p/72Hz and 1080p/75Hz support. This is only useful for owners of high end CRT based display equipment such as the Sony G90, Barco Cine9/909, or Electrohome Marquee 95xx CRT projectors. If you never plan on having a high end CRT based display there is no need for the "+" model. The "+" model does nothing for digital displays.
72Hz refresh allows you to run film at exactly 3x the native rate at which film is shot (24 frames/second) instead of at the usual 50 or 60Hz. Running at even multiples of the native rate eliminates motion 'judder' which some people find annoying. CRT based displays flicker too much at 24Hz and 48Hz, requiring the use of 72Hz refresh rate. Flicker does not exist on digital displays as the bulb is always on.
The "+" option is not available for the Radiance Mini 3D.

My main source is an Oppo BD player w/HDSDI set for 24fps output feeding a DVDO VP50pro with output set to 1920X800P @ 24Hz.
The DVDO feeds a Moome Mux with two digital outputs (used mainly as a splitter). Each Moome output feeds a separate VideoEqpro for separate CMS and grayscale calibration. Each VideoEqpro feeds a DVI input of a TVOne C2-2000 series blender/scaler. The TVOnes are set to each output 1064X800P@72Hz which creates a 10% blend feeding two more Moome boxes which are used as D/A converters for the pair of XG1100LC's. The final total resolution to the 126", 2.40 screen is 1920X800@72 Hz.

very complicated video chain, indeed.
I'd like to know how many people are using the Radiance XS+ for 72/75 Hz.
so far from this thread, only one is using a Lumagen for 72 Hz , and it's not even a XS+

I already PM'd Kal about that. If Mini's do 72Hz that is big news, the main reason in my mind to buy an XS+ was for 72Hz as I have no need for all the additional inputs.

Nothing has changed. I talked to Jim (prez of Lumagen about this).
His words:
"We do not sell the Mini with the “+” option. I did allow a couple “+” upgrades as a test so we could get some feedback on this. Unfortunately the case is too small to dissipate the heat properly without special cooling. So it is not reliable enough for us to consider selling it as a regular product and the couple people I allowed the upgrade for were told very specifically that is was a test case only and that it might not be reliable."

The Radiance Mini/ XS/ XE Can all output 1920x817(800) @72/75Hz,
Just not 1920x1080 @72/75Hz which requires the XS+/XE+ versions....

I'm using the Radiance XS+ for 72 Hz. It's in my Marquee 9500 Ultra 3D stack set up by Craig Rounds.
