Anyone tried this, using Marquee tube castings?

Guys
These particular Sony tubes may be special SIM tubes; they have air-coupled face plates on them, this begs the question----will the Sony glass fit the Marquee castings?

If you take the liquid coupling(AC Glass) off the tubes they should fit. if you leave them on the tube face would be too far from the HD-10's to focus correctly.

As I mentioned to Tim already, I tried interchanging Sony and MEC tubes in a BG808 that I had here for fun. I found that the flare of the bell of the tube from the neck was different, so the yoke sat differently, resulting in an image that was too large on one type of tube. (can't remember if it was the Sony or MEC that gave the bigger image), but it was too large for the internal width coils to compensate for.
Now if he's changing all three tubes, he probably won't have that issue.

| Nashou66 wrote: | Tim you could measure the inductance and resistance of the sony deflection coils to see if they match up with the marquee's. I know someone who was able to use the convergence coils from a 1292 on the marquee.
The 1292 deflection coils might work if the values match.

Not really; the inquiry is from Brazil.
