I started my CRT adventures with a NEC too 
It is not easy to set up (be prepared: only the second or third full setup will be quite watchable), but after a successfull setup you will be addicted to NECs

why would the necs be better colour wise if the same tubes are used and calibrated to rec709 standards?

All NEC came with tinted optical system unlike some other big company's stuff, this matters a lot if we talk about stock machines. But maybe there is some "magic" in the stuff itself.. This is like two transistor amps which have the same parameters on paper, but the one is sounds good but the other isn't.

Could you tell me which Fans exactly did you u use or swap out?
Cause i am still calculating which CRT to buy.
And if i can make the XG110LC more quiet safely.. i would take that one.

MOD AFTER, 5 fans: ebm papst 8412NGM 34.1CFM 26DB 2600RPM
before, 1 fan: Panaflo FBA08T12L 21.9CFM 23dB 2000RPM
after, 1 fan: chinese brand 8025 12v0.06a 24CFM 11dB 1400RPM
before,1 fan: Mitsubishi mmf-06d12dm 14.12cfm 25dB 3350RPM
after,1 fan: Nidec U60T12MHA7-51 15cfm 22.5db 3200RPM
before, 1 fan: Copal F412R-12LA-16 3.88CFM 16dB 4200RPM

If you put a hush box on it , find a way to draw cool air the hot air will cook the boards. a fan under the mount drawing air into the adick will do fine.

Are the "after" CFM ratings provided by the manufacturer or actual measurements ?
Did you verify temperatures before and after, or are you just relying on the honesty of the ratings of the fan makers in whose best interest it is to appear to have great ratings ?
I ask this because everyone else who's attempted fan mods pretty much always discovers the replacement fans are actually deficient in some way, usually the CFM ratings given at a particular sound level are at 0 pressure levels whereas the stock fans are capable of overcoming much more static pressure at the given CFM. Without any static pressure power, it doesn't matter if the fan is capable of moving as much air, it actually won't and your temperatures will go up....Here's a good little discussion which clearly explains what I'm talking about:

the"after"cfm is by the manufacturer .
i think the noise from the Panaflo, because the size is 8015, the fan blades is too thin so the speed is too high.
i MOD these fans and replace PAPST, the size is 8025 , almost the same CFM but lower speed, so lower noise.
I mod my XG110LC fans was in JUNE , i turn on my XG average 2 hours every day and 5 month later, especially pass through the hot summer, my PJ was still work in a good condition.

The heat damage isn't likely to be immediate, but cumulative resulting in a lower lifespan...
However, I would argue that the cost of crt projectors is so low now as to not warrant extra care, but should encourage us hold out users to use them often and as vigorously as we see fit. If it makes your experience better to have it more quiet, even at the price of higher internal temps, then personally, I'm all for that.
However, without verifying the starting temps and the temps after mods, recommending your fan mod as a "safe" mod isn't accurate and could mislead someone to believe they aren't compromising the longevity of their projector when in fact they may be doing that.

Sorry i didn't post the last days, was in pretty bad shape after a dentist appointment a few days back...
A new Situation has occurred, a would get a Marquee 8500 about half the cost of the NEC XG110.
Checked Tubes .. 8/9/8 , Bellows fine as well.
Is it worth it and what can i expect in comparison to the NEC XG110.

If it has bellows then it is a 8500LC, I am a former marquee 7500 owner. It sounds like a good deal to me, marquees are great machines: easy to set up, they are very reliable, easy to repair... for me it was too big, so I stayed with the NEC.

Yes it's a 8500LC Unit.

One thing i just read , that the 8500LC is very very long throw. (1,82:1)
Hmm.. may getting some troubles with room length.

So i am picking the Marquee 8500LC tomorrow since it has the Long Throw optics, ist there any mod option available?
Maybe Optics from a 9500LC ?
Anybody can help me out?
I searched around the forum but only found the NON LC 144mods.

As far as I know the 8500LC uses the HD-10 series lenses, just as the big brother, so probably a short throw lens (HD-10L) would solve the problem, but wait for other's reply to be sure...
