Just one thing then I leave this to the Pros, when you took out your cpu card and put the new battery in and put the card back in, did you have a look on the screen at any test patterns are they normal, if you cannot see them can you see any settings on the remote that have looked totally out of whack contast brightness etc, as in totally different to what you remember them being, like size for the green h or v etc?

I suspect that everything is way off due to the battery failure so as soon as I get the tubes to turn off when they're supposed to I'll start looking at the settings.

Is there a wire I can disconnect to prove the red is not being overdriven by a signal?

You could disconnect the G-2 input to the red CRT card. It is the single wire with the screw together connector. The tube should not come on like that. If it does start looking for bent pins on the red tube. The red CRT card might overheat if it has a problem. Use your nose. If it starts getting hot then turn off the projector.

One pin was bent over. Now it is broken off.
Looks like I'm shopping for a projector when funds permit.
