My setup is gone. I got a message on the remote "memory failure"
I have the projector plugged into the same circuit as my sound so there is no power when the system is off. Did I do something wrong or do I need some parts?

Check the battery on the CPu board. It should read 3.5 volts. My guess is that it's well under 3. If so, you need to change it. I have stock, about $30 incl shipping.
You can access the solder joints of the battery on the edge of the PC board. You can pull the CPU board, but you can also measure it while the card is in the set. Pull the power cord though while measuring it.

1) Which board is the CPU board?
2) Did I cause this by leaving it unplugged? If so I'll leave it plugged in after the battery is changed
3) Your price is very reasonable
Thanks

TEh battery is only rated at 5 years, most people get 10-15 years out of it, and the battery is not charged when the set is plugged in. It's old age.

The battery on the CPU board is right about under where the green line ends in the pix above.
Stock, it's a black rectangle, with 'Keeper II' stamped on the top.

OK it's the board the remote connects to.
My glasses work backward for this type of work: things get fuzzier when I look up. So the board is out and sitting on the bar.I don't recognize a battery yet

There are two terminals about 3/8 inch apart. I read .872 between them. There is another large solder joint at the other end of the battery but there's no stable reading so I'm assuming that's connected somewhere else. Anyway I believe you that I need a battery so whatever your preferred way of proceeding is................

Depending on your soldering skills, you might consider sending the board to Curt for the battery swap.
There is four pins to de-solder/solder. The two closest to the boards edge are the + and- for voltage. The two about a
inch in only support the battery. There are other considerations when changing the batteries on these that Curt knows how to work around.

You were a great help to me with getting this projector going so I think I'll just take your advice and send the board to Curt. I've already sent him shipping address and VISA but the automated answer said he wasn't at home. If your reading this Curt I'll wait for a shipping address for your shop and send the board..
Thanks to both of you

Just a question
The CPU board has been modified. Is this likely to be a factory mod as in CPU board Ver 1.2 ?

What is the indication that it was modified?

I'' bet it's not modified. Are you wondering about jumpers all over the board? (or at least some?) That's stock.
It was the Ampro way.

Yes
I worked for a while at IBM cutting tracks, soldering jumpers , and gluing the wires to the boards. This looks similar.
It's comforting to hear that this is stock.
Thanks

You oughta have seen the original ECP sets. I'm not sure if any two were the same.

OK
Battery is in... board is in...I know I have to start over with the setup.. Projector powers up ...when I shut down on the remote it shuts down then powers up again. No image on screen not even fuzzy lights. I do see images when I look into the lenses. Is there something I have to do to initialize or at least a starting point?

Each time I turn the projector on I get different symptoms. I suspect this is because all memory is dependent on the battery. If the battery is new (dead) this would explain random symptoms.
Where do I start?

Do you have a volt meter to test the new battery?
Describe your various symptoms.
