I desperately need someone to build me one or two NEC extender boards. These would be extender boards for the XG and PG series, to get the boards up out of the card cage. Doug Baisey is the only guy I knew that had one, but he wouldn't let them out of his grip (I don't blame him!) and since I believe he's no longer with us, I could really use a set.
I've got the male and female connectors off any number of dead boards and motherboards, someone needs to engineer the 'inbetween' PC board.
I am willing to pay $200-250 for one of these extenders. I'd probably take 2 if the price is right.

I'll take a pix of the edge connectors and will post here in the next day or so.

I have not heard from Doug in a very long time. I know he had health problems but I was not aware of anything else.
Do you know something that the rest of us don't?

Are the connectors 64 pin?

costed me 0 euro , but a lot of time to make.
on the other side there are as many copper wires.
took these of a old marquee vim and etched the board to my needs.
edit:
somewhere in the marquee thread member 1031 wrote down the ordering info for the right angled connectors and the board he used.
this will cost you a certain amount but it won`t cost you 5 hours to make.
this is a 64pin in case you wanted to know.

This is an alternative to an extender card. It can be several feet long so you can bring the board to the workbench. Crimp the female connectors to the cable with a bench vise. Plug a wire wrap male connector into the two female ones. Part numbers if you want.

Scott, the NEC connectors are similar, but different. I've got a set of those for the Marquees and Barcos, but the NEC PG and XG connectors are different, the module contacts are closer together and have a different shape.

Hi,
I built extender boards for Barco modules which have served me very well. This evening I might have some time to take a pic. As I want to order some marquee parts from You (Curt) anyway, You could simply throw the required connectors into the box and I'll build the extender boards to Your needs and send them back to You. It happens quite often that people ask me why I'm so pedantic when it comes to work on electronics (cleaning, soldering, testing etc.). Maybe this reflects the type of quality I'm after...
Regards,
Jorge

Nice! Let me spend some time online regarding the connectors (new is always better than used...
Not sure if it's better with a flexible ribbon cable, or a solid PC board. I'll do some investigating...

Hello Curt,
Of course new connectors would be ideal. If you find the manufacturer and part number I even could look for those over here. This would save a lot of time and shipment cost. If those connectors are only available for pcb mount I always would recommend using them on pcb's only as soldering wires to them could result in low mechanical stability. When pulling them it could happen that one or more pins come off. Using a pcb has the additional advantage that it's easier to connect the extenders to the motherboard as they are stiff.
Please see below for my Barco extenders (I did two of them and this took me about one hour)...
Regards,
barclay66
P.S.: I will send You an email with the Marquee parts I want to buy from You...
