|
|
Ok guys, I am at a bit of a cross roads, I wanted to give 3d a try on the ampro 4600, I have to get it 100% but more on that another time. I was wondering what kind of options I have.
If I go Nvidia I will have to get their setup obviously and win 7, I have Xp, on the plus side the Nvidia cards will have software to help like powerstrip, ATI/AMD do not have any tweaking software so you are stuck with the timing outputted as is which does not work for me, I could go the edid option or Scotts advice was to upgrade one of my cards so the 4600 could do 1080p without having problems with the image. The ATI option will be cheaper glasses wise but I will have to do a bit of work either software wise or pj wise so it will work out the same I reckon.
If I go the VIP option I am not sure how it will work out with me outputting from a HTPC, I have read a bit about all the options, one thing that I failed to pick up on was wether I would need to output via HDMI 1.4, I assume I will have to and if this is the case Ampros do not have a card to input HDMI into so how could I set this all up? This would be a problem accross the board as presently I use slyfox, vga to RGBHV on the HTPC, any advice oponions would help right now.

get the nvidia gtx560.
the vip way is universal so should work for you.
then there is the ext moome with sync output which should work with the rf transmitter from the vip package.
you are stuck however at 1080i for 3d cause 720p at 120hz and the large vert porch settings when not using a p43 green tube are above the freq of 1920*1080 at 60hz or even at 72hz i think.
if scott is willing to help you, get the cree fets i used, you`ll need 2 and it`ll be fine plus your module will run cooler too.
hdmi1.4 is not needed with a htpc.
they have the same max bandwidth specs= 330mhz.

Thanks Again Dennis, is there a cheaper option than the gtx 560 as that is a great card especially for gaming but a bit of overkill for 3d blu ray, or is that the only option with the powerstrip type software so I can do porch settings?
I dont mind 1080i for the res instead of 720p bit of a shame but never mind, I assume you mean at 1080i at 120 though, Cree fets Dennis, are these mosfets, you have lost me sir, I take it I have to replace something with these to improve the performance of the pj for 3d or generally? I rememeber you and Scott talking about this the last thread I did on here. If I did the fets that would solve a lot of problems but I would need to know exactly what to do and get someone else to do it not that I dont trust myself but I dont trust myself with this, cut granite check, cut metal check, change glycol c elements check, replace fets on output board ummmmm
oops:
this thread was the one. If I replaced the fets I may be able to use the amd card as the pj should be able to handle the 1080p signal I assume.

no, a lesser card will suffice but with simhd in arcsoft or different filters to enhance the picture via media player classic you need some serious processing power and you are not dependant on powerstrip which is absolutely needed imo if powerstrip isn`t supported.
the cree fets have superior specs compared to other, that`s why i chose them.
they must be driven with a higher voltage though, so if you want to use them and ask scott for help you should mention you will be using these.
this would be nice for other 4600ampro users to get 1080p.
and please don`t call me sir.

The fets you showed me are 1200v Dennis, the ones Scott suggested for the Ampro are 1500v, I assume you need more than 1 fet as well as he mentioned having them in series, you also mentioned that there would have to be a increase in power to drive them, how would you go about this? I will ask Scott when he has time thanks again Dennis.
